After the Thai health minister Anutin Charnvirakul first announced that the MotoGP in Buriram will continue as it would be good for tourism, he has now backtracked. The MotoGP in Thailand, which was to be held on March 22, has been postponed due to the corona virus.

The announcement comes a day after it was announced that the premier class race in Qatar, on March 8, has been cancelled. According to Anutin, all attention is now on fighting the virus.

Qatar canceled MotoGP due to the coronavirus outbreak in Italy. Travelers from that country are currently not welcome in Qatar and must be quarantined immediately upon arrival. Since six riders in MotoGP come from Italy and many race team employees also come from that country, the organization was forced not to hold a MotoGP race in Qatar.

According to local residents (including my girlfriend), there is a patient with the corona virus in the hospital of Buriram. Of course I can't verify this, but it could be a logical explanation why this event is now suddenly cancelled.

This is another one of the wild rumors going around. Thais love this, but we should not participate in this. I live near the city of Buriram and there is no corona case. The Moto GP has been postponed as a precaution, like so many sporting events around the world.

More and more unofficial “leaks” about Covid 19 patients in hospitals in various locations. Numbers that do not match the official figures. Even here on a quasi farrang blog.

Any "sanitary" explanation? Onno? Thai superstition?
