Today, the Thai government reported 89 new registered infections. A 72-year-old Thai man with chronic complaints has died of the disease. This brings the total number of registered infections to 2067. The number of deaths is 20 people.

Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said that 612 people have now recovered from the virus.

Taweesin warns people not to get too close to older relatives when paying tribute to them with Songkran. He also reported that Covid-19 has spread rapidly in the 20 to 29 age group over the past month as they travel a lot and attend gatherings.

  • The number of infections in Phuket has increased by 13 to 100. It concerns 11 Thai and 2 foreigners, a 25-year-old Hungarian and a 62-year-old German. The Hungarian had regularly visited nightlife venues in Soi Bangla and had a lot of contact with foreign tourists. The German also went to Soi Bangla and had been in contact with an infected Thai man in Bangkok.
  • Soldiers will assist local police and officials at night to enforce the curfew from 22 to 4 am.
