The Chulabhorn Royal Academy, chaired by Princess Chulabhorn, has purchased one million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine from the Chinese state-owned company of the same name. The vaccines will arrive in June and will be offered as a paid alternative for certain groups who don't want to wait for a jab from the Thai government.

The Chulabhorn Royal Academy is a higher education institution in Bangkok, Thailand that focuses on health sciences and public health. Secretary-General Nithi Mahanonda said at a press conference yesterday that the vaccine cannot be offered for free as the academy has had to purchase it itself. The private sector or others can contact the academy. The price of the vaccine will not exceed 1.000 baht per injection, including insurance.

“This offering is intended to help alleviate current shortages among high-need groups and allow the Department of Health to provide another option for some schools and private sector businesses to protect their students and employees. A number of organizations have already inquired about purchasing doses of the vaccine, including the Federation of Thai Industries and PTT Plc,” said Nithi.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday approved the Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use in Thailand. The FDA approved the registration application for Sinopharm's Covid-19 vaccine submitted by Biogenetech Co.

It is the fifth coronavirus vaccine approved in Thailand to date. It is an inactivated vaccine manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Product Co and requires two doses at a recommended interval of 28 days.

'Approved for emergency use' sounds – to my ears – a bit like: 'I wouldn't recommend it for regular vaccinations, but if you don't have anything else, well go ahead, it's okay'.

All available “vaccines” for covid19 have been provisionally approved for emergency use. This is because the research process for vaccines takes at least five years. This vaccine is based on an inactivated virus as vaccines have been made for more than 5 years. The four “vaccines” provisionally approved in the EU are produced in a different way. They are not actually vaccines made from an inactivated virus, but work in a new experimental way. All vaccines can have side effects. Because all vaccines have been brought to the market so quickly, it is unknown what problems we can expect in the medium and long term. This certainly applies to the experimental vaccines.

Yes, you have to earn money again; let them take over the unused AstraZeneca vaccines from various countries in Europe because better alternatives are used there. Cost price 1,78 Euro per vaccination, about 70 baht plus some extra transport costs, say a total of 100 baht, saves again 900 baht per vaccination x 2 pieces = 1800 baht per person.

      ger,

Don't forget that the EU has paid a lot for research and development of this vaccine. They have also negotiated a lower delivery price. AZ is sold almost at cost price. Thailand itself also produces Astrazenica and has of course also stipulated the same there. If vaccines were available in unlimited quantities, Thailand would have used much more Astrazenica. The problem is (almost) the same everywhere. The vaccines are often not available in the desired quantities at the desired time. Then you have to do business with several manufacturers. Doing nothing is not an option.

Should ever learn that Moderna cost $15, ok still seems to be the case for Americans.
Governments pay between $10-50 depending on the amount. Purchase price, I think.
Astra, on the paper of the Belgian government male, first $ 0.85.
Now I see 2 dollars. Moderna was number 1 with a price of $15, followed by Pfizer at $12.

In other words, there is a lot of messing around with the prices again. So this vaccine will also be exploited by the relevant authority to get a nice fat pot. 27 euros!

Take a look at the prices of a regular vaccine such as typhus, DTP, pneumo vaccine, hepatitis, hpv, etc. A price between 20 and 50 euros is quite normal. Don't worry about the prices for a corona vaccine. Those prices are really not exceptional. Quite low even
