Some people feel they can live above the law. A misconception as it turned out. Local residents found it strange that people came to a closed restaurant in the evening.

This happened in a Chinese restaurant located on Second Road near Soi 6. They informed the police. Shortly after 22.00 p.m., after the start of the lockdown, the Chonburi Transnational Crime Unit led by Colonel Decha Songhong appeared.

It turned out that there was an illegal casino on the second floor above the Chinese Fu Manow restaurant. Presumably the “restaurant” was supposed to serve as a cover. The police found a fully equipped casino on the second floor, where 12 people were gambling at the time. The amounts that went around were around 100.000 baht. There were several Chinese style slot games at custom tables.

The police deliberately arrived after 22.00 p.m. because then the national curfew starts due to the corona virus and everyone should be at home.

The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Beijing Heilongjiang, was immediately arrested. He will face several fines, namely evading curfew and organizing gambling, which is prohibited in Thailand.

The remaining gamblers are charged with violating the curfew and illegal gambling. Everyone was taken to the police station for further processing.
