A Belgian tourist, Mr Philippe Leoncuan Damme, 61 years old, was seriously injured in a steel cable accident in Pattaya, Thailand. The accident happened on a sidewalk when Mr. Damme tripped and a steel cable attached to a utility pole pierced his left hand and wrist. The cable, with individual sharp strands, penetrated almost four inches into his hand and wrist.

The rescue team, quickly on the scene, had to use special cutting tools to free Mr. Damme. He was immediately transported to hospital, but his current condition is unknown. The incident took place at the traffic police booth at Grand Condo intersection on Thepprasit-Tappraya Road.

After the incident, a reporter conducted an on-site inspection and noted that the dangerous steel cable slings, which had been seen earlier, were now tied into more secure, flowing lines. However, this accident has raised questions about the safety and maintenance of power poles and wires in the area. Local authorities are urged to take immediate action to prevent future accidents and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

This man has had bad luck, although it must be said that people make a mess of it with the cable spaghetti, and look at the condition of any available footpaths, you have to constantly pay attention to cracks, potholes, loose tiles or holes in the footpath, in the Netherlands the claims against the municipality due to overdue maintenance, poor condition of the footpaths and any injuries sustained due to tripping and falls are not out of the question, but yes TIT.

Best wishes to this unfortunate gentleman!

Thepprasit Road is famous for it! I always walk from Pattaya Kart Speedway towards Jomtiem, and the condition of the sidewalk no longer surprises me!
Cables at eye level where you don't know if there is power! I avoid things like that like the plague. Even with poles you have to be careful not to grab them accidentally. There could well be a closure that would give you a shock.

It is best to walk/walk as slowly and quietly as possible, otherwise you are bound to stumble!

    Best regards,

Well, Thailand. See the Phetkasem rd in Hatyai. From hospital side.
A section has been created with a special path for the visually impaired.
If such a person follows that path, he will be in the hospital within a short time.
I was able to walk there and be amazed at how they could come up with this.
Definitely needed my eyes, otherwise I would have ended up in the hospital.
Initiative a 10, but implementation and retention 0,0

So this thing, a non-encapsulated steel cable, is no surprise. Is even frayed by….?
I already saw it in another forum. The Belgian can still call himself lucky, good luck with his recovery.
