Ten minutes yesterday the water from the Chao Praya flowed through a broken levee onto the land or the 500-year-old temple Wat Chai Watthanaram was already 2 meters below whatst.

Many residents in a village behind the temple, who were still asleep, were completely surprised by the water and had to rush to safety for themselves and their belongings.

In addition to Wat Chai Watthanaram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Portuguese village, a trading post during the Ayutthaya kingdom, and the 500-year-old Pom Petch fort also flooded. The speed of the flood yesterday sparked fears that Ayutthaya's city center will not be spared as the Chao Praya, Pasak, Lop Buri and Noi rivers converge there.

Suphot Phrommanot, director of the Fine Arts office in Ayutthaya, has ordered the flood walls that protect Wat Thammaram, Wat Kasattrathirat and the Portuguese village to be reinforced.

Rattana Nakorn industrial estate, where 50 factories are located, also flooded in Ayutthaya. The province has three industrial estates with approximately 300 factories. The areas around the other two are already under water. The Industrial Estate Authority or Thailand has called on factories to suspend production for five days to prevent damage to the means of production.

For now, historical sites and residential areas in Muang district are not yet affected by the water, but the situation could change any minute. Part of the Uthong Road, which is used as a dike to protect the district, is already under water. A temporary flood wall has been reinforced.

The death toll from the floods has now risen to 237 and three people are missing, according to the latest figures from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department.

[The message of 4 October mentions one industrial estate with 400 factories. The spelling also differs, but that is not striking. Thai names are often romanized in different ways.]

    what is all going on?
it looks like half of thailand is under water.
The Netherlands could play an important role here to study how they could tackle the problem here in the future.
hopefully lessons will be learned from this, and the necessary measures will be taken.

It is a disaster for the poor people. They are not responsible for what happened.
The large landowners have had the most important trees (teak wood) cut down.
They held the water and the soil. Later palm trees and rubber trees and Hotels
built. The Palm trees and rubber trees do not have the same roots as the ancient teak trees and disappear with a lot of flooding.
Take Pattaya as an example. The hinterland was 10 or 15 years ago a nature reserve with forests, etc. They built everything up and cast it in concrete.
The water can no longer drain into the ground.
It is the same as our Dutch government. Lived in excess for years.
Get those customers back to court. most are already dead.
As a generation (old or young) we now have to bleed for that.
The Thai should too. I hope that one day someone will stand up and do something about it. I love those people too much.
The same goes for our country. Let all those figures who spent years overspending
but really go bare with the buttocks. Unfortunately, most of them are dead.
Have faith in the future and in the Thai people.
    Cor.
