The junta in Thailand has announced that the curfew for three tourist cities: Pattaya, Koh Samui and Phuket, will be lifted from today.

It is not yet clear whether the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan can take place normally (it may also fall under the measure that applies to Koh Samui).

The measure was taken to accommodate tourists and the tourism industry. The military made this known on TV. The curfew will remain in force in the rest of Thailand. Thais and tourists are not allowed to go out on the street outside the mentioned places between 24.00:04.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX.

Just arrived in Thailand. A night in Bangkok, but not many people care about the curfew. My robbers den (fabulous pub) was open as usual and people left for home at 14.00 pm. By the way, I have not seen a soldier from the airport, to the center of Bangkok and back to the airport the next day. So it's all okay. Have read the newspapers and I think the men of the Junta are doing a good job. Farmers are paid and many projects are scrutinized with the intention of making it tarnsparater.

The curfew therefore applies at night, not during the day. 😉

@Jack; well spotted. I meant 02.00:XNUMX AM. Maybe my watch wasn't right yet.

I am very happy with the news regarding the curfew. Yippee, then I can go to Pattaya in August with peace of mind.

As read curfew ended but it was very quiet in Pattaya tonight. Around 21:00 50% of the parking space on Beach Road at all bars was empty. Then in Walking Street very quiet and a strange atmosphere. It seemed that there were more tourists than Thai in percentage terms. It will probably take them a little longer for the Thai to resume their old life.

      Hi Daniel,

How long will you stay in Pattaya. So it is very quiet at the Walking Street etc. But what do you think, will it last in Thailand and Pattaya... But what was the atmosphere like in Pattaya before the curfew was lifted. I'm not going to Pattaya until August 17th, but I don't have a good feeling about it, so what do you think? Hear it okay.

      Greetings Henri

The ladies and the ladyboys are not crazy. When the curfew was imposed, those who could not find an escort for a week (or longer) all returned to their families (in the Isaan): family visits and cheaper living. They all have to come back by bus first. Just a few more days and then everything will be back to normal, what you think is normal (wink)

On land you don't suffer from the curfew.
Enter the house around half past seven – then the moskitos outside become too troublesome –
watch an hour of thai soap on TV and then go to bed around half past eight!
( real life in Isan )

Why then do I still see the lights burning almost everywhere in the village when I take another detour at 22 p.m.?
And why do I still hear mopeds passing by at 24:00?
(saying this is because I haven't gone to sleep yet is lame)

But indeed, here in the village no curfew.

      • Chris says up

many Thais are afraid of ghosts and therefore leave the light on
        when they go to sleep…
and those who pass by on mopeds after midnight….
… are on the run from the ghosts….

They are just not coming to cover you….

What would a curfew - by the time it goes into effect, the local police will already be out of the world
Just put a few containers of beer or home-brewed junk next to it and see what happens...

That is also the real life in the Isaan.

dear people of the night life Pattaya, just give me the land of isaan, quiet, beautiful nature everything you want can be found there, I don't need that {…… life}, .. long live kanchanaburi and beautiful region, don't you if all those places where they sit day and night drink, think of your health, we are no longer 25-year-old guys, enjoy your old age, Thailand is a very beautiful country, go out into nature, what can you see in all those places where women and ladyboys run after you day and night, greetings from beautiful kanchanaburi.

    @chris, totally agree

@Henri, I live in Thailand. It just stood out last night last night, because it was busier during the curfew. I would worry 0% about August, it will take a while and in addition if there are fewer tourists, the Thai are still there. We talk about this as it is just noticeable that it is quieter, have never seen such a quiet year in 8 years of vacation. Problem? Certainly not….

Who can tell me if the night train runs from Bkk to Chiang Mai?

    • Khan Peter says up

      Yes, it drives.

    • Johan Combe says up

The train service is normally also the night train to Chiang Mai

Maybe some practical info. My sister-in-law owns a coffee shop/kareoke bar. I'm there now and she managed to tell me that the police came by this morning to tell her not to close. Only the risk areas must adhere to certain rules and which ones are determined according to the situation. They got married back here and just had a drink with these people so everything is back to normal…….

Forgot to say I'm talking about Bangkok.
