Thousands of motorists have parked their cars on elevated highways around Bangkok in an effort to protect the cars from flooding.

This despite the government's request not to do so. The parked vehicles can cause traffic jams and hinder emergency services in the city. The timely distribution of relief supplies is therefore at risk.

Both the outbound and inbound left lanes of the Si Rat Expressway are full of parked cars. Many residents fled to nearby Muang Thong Thani when it became clear that Khlong Prapa had been flooded.
