The Airport Rail Link operator wants to increase the number of trains by 15 to handle the rising number of passengers on the rail link between Suvarnabhumi and central Bangkok.

Every day, 70.000 passengers use the ARL, with a peak on Fridays and weekends. With the additional trainsets, an additional 40.000 people can be transported. Manufacturer Siemens has been asked for advice on connecting more train sets to the trains.

The ARL, a subsidiary of the Thai Railways, is already going to make four cargo compartments suitable for passengers. That should be ready in September.
