The city of Bangkok has designated thirty public parks for the Loy Krathong celebration on October 31.

Visitors who want to launch a krathong must strictly adhere to the well-known prevention measures, such as face masks and social distancing. They must check in via the ThaiChana QR code.

Loy Krathong is the festival of light and water. Many thousands of candles are launched during the full moon, like a kind of floating flower arrangement. A fascinating spectacle which produces beautiful images.

Loy Krathong is a party and an old Thai tradition based on the bond that Thais have with the water. The festival takes place during the full moon in November, the twelfth month. The Thai people ask the water spirits for luck and to literally sail away from the problems (Loy means to sail).
