News from Thailand – January 28, 2015

The Nation opens with the report that Prime Minister Prayut ignores criticism from the United States through the mouth of Deputy Secretary of State Daniel Russell. Prayut believes that he has actually saved democracy in Thailand. His intervention and the state of martial law have stopped the unrest and the violent struggle between two political groups. Among other things, the prime minister says: "Thai democracy will never die, because I am a soldier with a democratic heart". He also believed that Yingluck brought the country to the brink of collapse and intervention was therefore inevitable. Prayut stressed that he had no objection to Russell's visit to former Prime Minister Yingluck. “I can forbid her to meet and speak to anyone, but I don't want to. If I do that, others will see it as abuse of power or harassment.”: http://goo.gl/MdgEB9

– Minivan taxi drivers at Suvarnabhumi airport have had enough and are threatening strikes. They earn too little and want the airport surcharge to go from 50 baht to 100 baht. They also want a surcharge of 30 baht for extra luggage and that they can make long distances more expensive. According to the taxi drivers, they have higher fuel costs with the vans because the minivans have heavier engines. Because they earn so little, many have already stopped working. We don't get it anymore Bangkok Pattaya without a meter on average 1500 including toll road and airport
50 baht. Back 1000 baht also with toll road etc. Some in Pattaya are still under that price and we had an almost new car and a good driver. So a tip was in order.

    You're right.

and then it would still be a traffic jam.

on departure bus from svarnabhumi it is ts 1.30h2- XNUMXh ride to jomtien.

if everyone had to do that, prices would fall.

vanuit jomtien dan met blew taxy tot hotel. max 150 baht.

    good luck .
