News from Thailand – Friday, April 17, 2015

The Nation reports today that a new working group will be set up to help the Thai people see the benefits of the new constitution. The junta wants domestic and foreign experts to give their opinions to members of this working group. This decision comes after criticism of the new constitution. It would not be able to solve the political crisis in Thailand and would even hinder the political development of the country. The new working group must prevent a misinterpretation of the constitution: http://goo.gl/uDDsRK

Bangkok Post opens that the illegal use of land in Nakhon Ratchasima province has been expanded with an investigation into the Kirimaya Golf Resort and Spa, located at Khao Yai. This follows on from a previous investigation into the Bonanza Golf and Country Club Co, also at Khao Yai National Park where a golf and race course has been illegally built. The Center for National Anti-Corruption will investigate the matter, including whether officials are involved. It is suspected that permits have been wrongly granted for pieces of land. This land was originally intended for agriculture and farmers: http://goo.gl/7RHR0x

– The Russian Minister of Commerce, Denis Manturov, expects Thailand and Russia to do good business in the field of infrastructure and the sale of weapons. The Russians believe that military aircraft and three Sukhoi Superjet transport aircraft will be sold to Thailand by the end of next year. Russia will buy at least 80.000 tons of rubber from Thailand as compensation. Four times more than what was already agreed to buy. India and China are also keen to cooperate with Thailand on military training and logistical support. According to one source, this should not be seen as a shift from Thailand's foreign policy, which has always focused more on the West. A Thai military expert further said that Thailand would like to buy tanks from Russia. Thailand previously bought anti-aircraft systems from the Russians.

– The police suspect a security guard of the Central Festival Samui shopping center of being involved in the bomb attack on Koh Samui. He is one of five men who worked at the mall the night of the explosion.

    As I wrote before.
The Russians are now actually coming.
Not only with weapons , which in my opinion are offered cheaply , but soon also with many advantages for their tourists .
I think that a Russian will soon be able to stay in Thailand for 90 days without any kind of visa hassle or the like.
We westerners will soon become jealous of the Russian tourists.
Putin is a smart politician and strategist.
He is not interested in Thailand at all, only now sees his opportunities in Southeast Asia.
To be able to expand power and Russian influence quickly, to the detriment of the West and the USA.
Prayuth is not allowed to enter the USA and Putin smears Prayuth with syrup around his military mouth .
Soon all Thais will drive a new Ladda car.
Friends become enemies and enemies become friends.

    The Russians are coming.

    Jan Beute.
