The Dutch cabinet decided yesterday that stricter measures are needed to ensure that the number of corona infections decreases.

The national measures apply from Wednesday 14 October 22:00. In the weeks leading up to October 27, the cabinet will assess what is needed for the period after that. There must be sufficient evidence in a reduction in the number of Covid-19 infections and the pressure on regular care before it can be said with certainty that the measures are having an effect and can therefore be reconsidered.

The measurements

I have often spoken with NL friends and family that I found it really incredible how people thought and acted about it in NL. Mouth caps were ridiculous and now suddenly desired, borders closed in TH not normal and enjoying a holiday in the EU... well we know the result. How stupid can you be because we are all so smart together? Misplaced arrogance and sad for people who will not be treated in the early stages of serious illnesses. A country with many egos deserves no better, but again a pity for the people affected.
With that swab policy, TH was completely bankrupt.
It's going to be fun in NL because after 4 weeks it's the run-up to the holidays and then something has to be let go again.... January is the new lock down

Read a lot of bias and fear regarding Covid-19 here on this site. If you delve a little into this matter, you will discover that this virus has not yet been found or isolated. See messages about this from the American RIVM, the CDC. And that there are many political and financial interests behind the fear-mongering. The fact that even the WHO urgently recommends no lockdowns (causes poverty and thousands of deaths) should say enough. If tens of thousands of doctors and scientists (see Great Barrington Declaration) also declare that this is all a big hoax... It is striking that the flu has completely disappeared in NL and BE (during the flu season), everything is now called Corona for convenience.

The Netherlands now from the best boy in the class to the worst boy in the class. This is due to the weak and arogant attitude of the government. From the beginning they are behind the facts and are overall too late. And the weak policy continues now.

The measures that are now being taken in the Netherlands are too late, it should never have come this far. Of course the economy also plays a role, but now the turnips are done. The proverb “gentle healers make stinking wounds” applies very well here. Before the holiday period we should have completely closed the borders for tourism, no one in and no one out. Not by car, bicycle, plane, train and strict border control in that respect have the Thai done better. But the average Dutch person is so spoiled that going on holiday is seen as a right. As far as the government's slack policy is concerned, I quite understand that the upcoming elections next year will also play a role in not immediately taking away its toys from the population, because that could well have consequences for voting behaviour. If I was in charge, the country would be completely locked and no one left outside (only groceries and doctor / hospital visit) this is not fun under certain conditions, but we have no other choice. Invest now for the future, maybe we will get rid of it sooner.

Well Well Khunchai it's a good thing you're not in charge. The WHO announced this week that a lockdown is not the best solution. Furthermore, the mortality figure has been adjusted from 3.4% (which was already a lie) to 0.13%. What to do when it opens again after a total lockdown.? Has the virus disappeared??? Look at the protests yesterday, thousands of people on top of each other. OK many with a mask (not medical!!) many without. We will not hear about there being more cases (positive tests, so no infections).

It's always better with the neighbors and the grass is greener! That's how we NL people are put together and that's why we don't or don't fully comply with the measures. The measures in the Netherlands do not differ that much from other countries to speak of an incorrect approach. We, the citizens, make a mess of it because we don't like rules….

Comparing with Thailand is out of the question; when you see how much poverty corona-19 has brought to Thailand. Companies that are closed forever or families that have been in poverty for years. Fortunately, that is not the case in the Netherlands.

I don't believe much in complaints about 'not being treated'; At least I didn't notice it in my immediate environment and I myself was treated normally. I see that only non-urgent matters are postponed. But complaining is also one of our characteristics….. We adapt badly to changed circumstances and rules.

I consider the government to have succeeded in its main objective: to prevent flooding of the IC departments. Not to tackle corona because you can't tackle that, at most you can protect people with a vaccine and as long as there isn't one with palliatives. We have to learn to live with infections because that corona is really not going away because our head of government is called Rutte, Merkel, Trump or Prayuth.
