Thailand's Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) yesterday ordered temporary suspension of the Thailand Pass for all new Test & Go and Sandbox programs (except Phuket Sandbox), citing the rising number of cases of Omicron- infections in Thailand.

Travelers who have already received the Thailand Pass QR code (approximately 200.000 applicants) will be allowed to enter Thailand under the existing conditions of the scheme they have chosen. The government is introducing new measures for tracing contacts and wants all travelers to be tested twice using the PCR method. The second test takes place in a government-designated facility (at no additional cost).

New registrations for Thailand Pass under the Quarantine Exemption (Test & Go) and Living in the Blue Zone Sandbox Programs will not be accepted until further notice. Applicants who have registered before December 22, but have not (yet) received their QR code, will have to wait for their Thailand Pass to be approved (or unfortunately rejected). Once approved, they can also enter Thailand according to the program they have chosen.

Registration for Thailand Pass under the Phuket Sandbox program and Happy Quarantine remains possible, but the government will periodically review the situation. so it is advisable to keep following the news about this.

People who have registered for Phuket Sandbox since December 22 will have to pay for two RT-PCR tests themselves. The second test should be done on day 5-6 or when they develop symptoms, while still in Phuket,

Happy Quarantine? What is that exactly?

Happy Happy sitting in your hotel room with a stick up to your brain stem twice, of course enjoying the Thai channels; which, of course, I speak fluently

And enjoy two bottles of water that I can drink coffee and tea from. Hoping someone goes to 7-11 for me for some soda.

Obviously no beer because that gives you Corona 🙂

      That makes me very happy

      • Dennis says up

Oh, apparently I was misled by the word "happy". Thought the nurse was also doing things other than the PCR test.

Fortunately, my Test & Go has already been approved 🙂

Saw this coming at the turnout Omicron left on December 12th could actually have been earlier T Pass and Visa were around very quickly. No alcohol, well I was in a hotel near the airport and could just order everything up to a large bottle of Leo. Also don't understand why people need to stay in a hotel in the city A: more expensive B: further and you're in your room. Now in Banphai and enjoy the weather every day, restaurants, shopping and so on everything that is not possible in the Netherlands.

So if I understand correctly (we want to go to Thailand at the beginning of Feb.) then the Phuket offer or happy Quarantine: 1) I assume the happy Q. Is for BANGKOK, for example?

That happy Q. Is for the unvaccinated?
    2) But we fully vaccinated (3 injections) still have to be quarantined and if so for how many days?!

    Please your answer
    Thanks in advance

Only the Phuket Sandbox is an option for you. See here: https://www.tatnews.org/2021/12/thailand-reopening-living-in-the-blue-zone-17-sandbox-destinations/

And then I just read this email from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then my pants really drop. What a terribly bad ministry that is, even with those outdated travel advice and putting countries on orange where hardly any cases are known…

“From December 22, 2021, new rules will apply for entering Thailand. Fully vaccinated travelers must be quarantined for 7 days. Travelers who are not (fully) vaccinated must be quarantined for 10 days. The color code of the travel advice for Thailand is orange and red for the most part. The country is a high-risk area due to the corona virus. Only travel to Thailand if necessary. More information about the (travel) measures applicable in Thailand and the Netherlands can be found in the Coronavirus section. Read the entire travel advice to see what this means for you.”

Only when you click through to the Travel Advice website and scroll a little further down do you read:

“Have you already registered for the Thailand Pass before December 22, 2021? Did you get permission on that registration? Then the entry measures from before December 22, 2021 will continue to apply to you (1 day quarantine, the so-called 'Test and Go').”

That email didn't really give a good feeling, but now I'm happy with the confirmation that everyone with a Pass can use it. 🙂

    Hi

Our Thailand pass was approved a while ago. In the meantime, both my husband and I have received our 3rd shot. I suspect that this has also changed our vaccination pass (qr code) against the one we submitted back then. Could this pose a problem?

Re-submitting the Thailand pass is of course not an option now and we will leave next Thursday…

    Greetings,
    Sara

    • Peter (editor) says up

      No, no problem.

you have a qr code and wonder if the third vaccination is also paired with another qr code. You have applied with your qr code. So you have it on paper or on your computer. To be on the safe side, I would use it, so the paper qr code, to enter Thailand. After all, it corresponds to what you have submitted.

Has anyone arrived in bangkok recently? So we are traveling next week with 2 small children and still a light form of stress 🙂

    • Peter (editor) says up

      Stress about what?

      • January says up

Peter, I was also stressed. The infections in Belgium were sky-high in mid-December when I came to Thailand. As long as you don't have your negative PCR test in your hands, you can't be sure you can travel. And you only have that the day before you leave.

      • Sarah A3 says up

Yes, especially because we now have to undergo PCR 2 times on site…. And if someone did test positive, would you have to go to hospital? And with children aged 3 and 4 that gives stress, I'm curious if much will have changed

        • Peter (editor) says up

Yes, one extra test. That's right. But does the second time matter? You can also test positive at the first. And you already knew that when you went to book. By the way, I would not go to Thailand with small children, but that is a personal choice.

We just arrived with 2 kids.. everything went smoothly and super arranged. Room service will arrive shortly and wait for the test results on the balcony with a view of the sea

    Hi Peter and others interested
I just came from the Thai embassy and they say that I will also come in with a 7-day quarantine (and not via Phuket)
What am I supposed to believe now??

ps We prefer not to do Phuket because you cannot buy FLEXIBLE tickets for this … (if anyone has found one, please let me know)
