Six airports in Thailand are becoming 'smart'
Airports of Thailand (aoT) has selected six airports for the so-called 'smart airports' project that will start next year.
By applying new technology, they should be able to respond better to the rapidly changing aviation industry within 5 years and solve problems such as overload. The project, which runs from 2018 to 2022, also includes plans to improve security and use airports for other destinations to generate more revenue.
The six selected airports are Krabi, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Nakhon Si Thammarat. During the project they will be equipped with a new baggage handling system, but also with a new explosives detection system.
In addition, there will be an automatic passport control system and boarding passes can be scanned automatically. Other new technology applied will consist of Airport Guide Robots and Automated Cleaning Robots.

That's a setback for me
after living in Khon Kaen for twenty years, I moved to Bangkok last month.
How lucky I still live here in Khon Kaen!!! but on a forum it is claimed that you can go from Khon Kaen to Pattaya (u tapau) with Kan Air, but that is definitely not true.!!!!
Only with Kan air Khon Kaen to chiang mai.
Well from Udon Thani with air asia to pattaya (u tapau)
They better improve the customs clearance of Suvarnabhumi, last Thursday I stood in line for 2 hours, previously we could use the "Thai passport" entrance together with my wife, but now only vending machines for the Thai themselves. We can easily reach the hundreds Chinese stand up.!!
You mean immigration, not customs.
Customs is about goods, immigration about people.
Moving on to the other immigration post usually solves that problem.
Both are about 50 meters apart.
Or to the Premium Lane, if you are 70+.
That was also due to the delay. Travelers with a connecting flight had priority.
But it was indeed very tiring and could be improved upon.
