Phuket police confirmed yesterday morning that the body of 26-year-old Dutch tourist Stephan Buczynski has been transported to Bangkok for an autopsy.

Stephan Buczynski was last seen alive on Saturday evening by his traveling companion. His remains were found floating on the north side of Patong Beach on Sunday morning.

“His body was transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok early this week,” Patong Police Lieutenant Colonel Akanit Danpitaksat reported. “Doctors at Patong Hospital told us on Monday that they believe drowning was the cause of his death. But especially the deep gash at the back of Mr. Buczynski's head calls for further investigation. That's why we decided to have an extensive autopsy performed. We hope to receive the final autopsy results from Bangkok next week,” he added.
