The Health Ministry will ask the CCSA to impose 28-day lockdown restrictions in the eastern provinces of Rayong, Chonburi (which includes Pattaya) and Chanthaburi, where the number of infections continues to rise.

Health Secretary Sathit said yesterday that this is necessary because many people at risk of infection remain silent about their activities and others refuse to report to health authorities to get tested. He says the source of most infections is illegal gambling dens.

The proposed measures include travel restrictions to prevent residents of the three provinces from leaving the area unless absolutely necessary. In addition, the ministry will ask the CCSA to set up checkpoints on roads connecting the three provinces with Bangkok and other regions.

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has issued stricter measures in 28 provinces because the number of infections is rising rapidly. They have therefore been declared a red zone.

Now I hope that the government will warn the restaurants etc. in time so that they are not left with a purchased stock.
Like last time it started a day later AND THEY WERE STILL WITH A STOCK OF FOOD.

I also wish everyone a happy and healthy 2021.

Kevin. That's bad news because I've already booked to come to my beloved Thailand again in May, hopefully by then everything will be open again

Two weeks of quarantine, expensive insurance and cumbersome
proceeding . Then you come to discover that of the tourists
sector little about. If you don't plan to stay for at least 3 months
it makes little sense to come.

        Sawasdee Khrub Khun Tak,
You don't have to move in the tourist sector, Thailand has much more to offer to me than overcrowded beaches and full bars.
For me this was the first time to follow the procedure, but for me VisaService in The Hague has arranged everything!
So the day after tomorrow this boy is at Schiphol, expecting to enjoy everything that the tourist sector does not offer me for 3 months.

          Sorry spelling mistake: arranged

The tourist sector must be shut down for 1 or 2 years. Corona virus has destroyed this sector and you go on vacation to enjoy your life. This is not only in Thailand but all over the world!!!!
Don't take a holiday this period and take a holiday of a few months in a few years.
I have to say I am happy and living in Thailand since 4 years so don't need vacation anymore. When I go to the big city I miss my village and want to go back home and my dogs soon. So easy to write.

Can any of the readers explain to me why Prachuap Khiri Khan Province is a red area? According to reports, this concerns 1 infection. Perhaps other factors play a role? Thanks in advance for your response(s).

Some governors have opted for a voluntary lockdown
and have decided to no longer allow outside the province

A strange case indeed, but given the number of 541 new infections in Samut Sakhon, it may be explainable. In addition, all schools will close from tomorrow and education must take place online at least until February 1. Better safe than sorry? That is new for Thailand.
In the meantime, rumors are rampant. For example, a family from Hua Hin is said to have been stopped in Bangkok and I read that a sound car in Hua Hin calls on people from Bangkok to go into quarantine. We still have a few things to look forward to…

interesting problem arises. In short “out of quarantine in Bangkok? quarantined again in your own home”

A reasonable number of provinces are code red. Also bangkok where you go into quarantine when you arrive at subarnabumi airport.
If you want to travel home after the quarantine, you will run into the above-mentioned checkpoints. Even when those checkpoints along the road were not yet there, there was an order to go into self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival from one of the red areas. Remarkable discussions arose in some of the villages, for example with the village elder or local authorities. After all, you came from a red area, so: quarantine in your arrival area!! Usually seems to be resolved. But what happens now? If you are apprehended upon entering the province?? No local help or consultation. I am curious about these situations.
By the way, when you leave your quarantine hotel you will receive a statement that you have completed the quarantine. But the Thai logic stands for nothing! Eg required to show fit to fly statement when you enter the hotel!!

Anyone who understands can say so.
First this is not allowed and not during the past year.
And then all of a sudden around the turn of the year we go out in droves on our way to family and friends all over the country.
As a result, I read yesterday an additional 189 deaths in traffic alone during the first 3 days.
Many traffic deaths no problem, but with a single corona dead money again great alarm.
You would almost say better apply a total lockdown in traffic until everyone starts complying with the traffic rules.
If you enter a shopping small or something like that, you have to do this and that before you can enter.
And last night in my neighborhood a disco party that lasted until midnight.
Everywhere in my area there were New Year's parties at neighbors and companies from the beginning of the afternoon and ending around midnight with the Karaoke loudly doing its job, not to mention the alcohol consumption.
And now we are going into lockdown again, I think it suits the current government well those lockdowns and corona.
No more demonstrators on the streets after January 1st who utter ugly words about them and the Majesty.

had a meeting at the Thai embassy at the beginning of December and according to the first consul (and ambassador) it was 'very safe' in Thailand. 'No Corona'. No Problem'??! on the blog I also read several comments on started topics that it should be safer??
strange that half of Thailand has been given code red. many infections?

can you also search for your own 5 star hotel as a 'Quarantine hotel'? I think I'm leaving with partner late summer 2021 for x months. i am thai national.

    • Cornelis says up

Yes, you can choose your own hotel with as many stars as you wish – as long as the hotel is a government designated ASQ hotel.

Reading it all brings tears to my eyes. My beloved holiday country for 15 years already had a relationship for 10 years now stopped this about 3 years ago. Still, it always comes back home when you land on Suvarnabhumi formerly Don Mueang. At least I don't think this will work for now. If you have to invest half of your hard-earned money in Quarentine, there is not much left to have a nice holiday. Provided you don't have to look at the time and can indeed stay for 3 months. I know a few people who have a house in my beloved Hua Hin, they have also been in the Netherlands for a while and also say that it has become a ghost town pff. Let's hope we can do something again towards the fall??? I think booking tickets to Thailand for [ordinary holidays] is currently a big gamble, and you have a good chance that it will be voucher work again with all the consequences that entails. Let's hope for better times soon so that we can fly to our beloved Thailand again.

In these provinces, schools will close for 4 days from January 28:
Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Chonburi, Chumphon, Kanchanaburi, Lopburi, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phetchaburi, Prachinburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Sakeao, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Singburi, Suphanburi, Tak and Trat.
Code red, orange or yellow applies to some provinces.
What I know for sure is that if I want to travel to Kanchanaburi from Tak, I would have to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

    Strange situation.
You are no longer allowed to sit in restaurants, coffee shops.
You are on the bus, Mar, SkyTrain. / Stand your hut on top of each other.
While the distance is sometimes so close together.
