Sellers are advised by the Pattaya City Council that painting markings on the footpath at Beachroad is prohibited. Reserving sales space during Songkran in this manner will be severely punished with legal action and a maximum fine.
Officials of the municipality will monitor the boulevard and act. The municipality is making this known after a number of complaints. Several spots on the footpath were marked with white paint that said 'reserved'.
Sale on the sidewalk along the beach is prohibited. The roads along the beach are closed from 06.00 a.m. to 19.00 p.m. during the festival to allow residents and tourists to enjoy the water party.
Vendors who flout the ban will be fined 2.000 baht and the goods will be confiscated. In the past, the sellers were left alone, but not this year, the municipality says.
