The Public Prosecution Service feels no pressure from the population in the controversial case of the Koh Tao murders. "We must be able to dispel the doubts of the population that they are the real culprits," says the public prosecutor on Koh Samui.

As you know, this is doubtful. The two detained guest workers from Myanmar were said to be used as scapegoats to protect the perpetrators and their initial confession was allegedly made under pressure of assault.

Yesterday, the OM handed over the thousand-page investigation report to the court. The two have been charged with the rape of Hannah Witheridge (23) and the murder of her and her boyfriend David Miller (24). On Monday, the Myanmarese will be brought to the Koh Samui Provincial Court for their plea.

The embassy of Myanmar will request bail and consult with the Lawyers Council of Thailand about the defence. "The suspects have confirmed that they are innocent and that they did not kill the two tourists," said Min Oo, legal coordinator at the embassy.

The father of one of the suspects has asked the Thai government in Yangon to catch the real perpetrators. 'My son is not a murderer. I suffer a lot knowing that my son is in prison. I'd like to take his place if I could.'
