Just a few more days and then history will be written in the Netherlands. The abdication of Queen Beatrix and the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander is therefore a special event for all Dutch people in Thailand.

To celebrate this, there will be a reception on 30 April in honor of the abdication of Queen Beatrix and the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander. All Dutch people in Thailand, including any children, are invited. The inauguration of King Willem-Alexander will be broadcast live on a large screen.

The festivities will take place in the garden in front of the residence. You are welcome from 18.30 pm and the reception will end at 21.30 pm. The embassy asks visitors to dress formally. For men, a shirt with long sleeves is desirable. Suits/jackets are not necessary given the high temperature. It would be nice if the children wear a (homemade) crown for this special occasion.

If you want to attend the reception, the embassy asks you to register using this form. You will then receive a confirmation email with details about the evening.

The Dutch embassy in Bangkok expects a large turnout, so it is a good idea to register in time. The residence's garden is accessible via 106 Thanon Wittayu (only this entrance will be accessible). Parking on site is not possible. It is wise to come by BTS Skytrain or by taxi. If you opt for the Skytrain, you can get off at the Phloen Chit BTS Station‎, the garden of the embassy is within walking distance.

I also thought it would be a good idea to celebrate this event in Bangkok, so Thailandblog is also present and I will certainly write a report on this special and festive gathering.
