Holiday exodus for New Year holidays (Songkran) started
The holiday exodus started yesterday, at Mor Chit bus station in Bangkok it was crowded. Millions of Thais go to their native village on the occasion of Songkran to celebrate the New Year with family. Long traffic jams developed especially on Phahonyothin Road as well as Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
The Narcotics Control Board, the Department of Land Transport, the police, the military and the bus operator Transport Co are intensively checking that bus drivers have not consumed drugs or alcohol. More than 1,2 million travelers opt for the bus. Passengers must arrive at the bus station at least one hour before the scheduled departure.
Those who opt for the plane must also leave home earlier and arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure.

It was indeed busy on the road.
I had to attend a funeral in Ayutthaya today and had little choice but to hit the road.
By the way, the barriers on toll roads are open. They are free… like every year by the way.
We once drove to Kon Kaen by car just before Songkran. We knew a lot. Had heard it would be busy, but we were so naive. Instead of the usual 1 hours we drove 5,5 hours.
NEVER AGAIN. We immediately knew what it means to ride with Songkran
Even worse tomorrow… BKK is emptying
Monday will be another disaster…. because everyone comes back.
