Six people have died in floods in 17 provinces and one person is still missing. The situation has now improved in 14 of the 17 provinces, except in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Phichit (photo home page).

The floods were caused by heavy rains due to a low pressure area and the southwest monsoon. They affected 26 villages and 302 households since August 8.051. Five hospitals were partially damaged, three in Chiang Rai, one in Nan and one in Lampang.

In Chiang Rai, the districts of Wiang Chiang Rung and Phaya Mengrai were hardest hit.

In Phichit, the Wang Daeng channel overflowed, flooding the town of Thap Khlo. It reached a height of 50 to 80 centimeters.

Police expect the situation to return to normal on Wednesday. The governor of the province has ordered local authorities to remove water hyacinth that is interfering with water flow in several canals.

In Chiang Mai, the water in Sri Ping Muang, Fa Mai and Pratu Kom and on the Siriyawong and Sri Ping Muang road in the city rose to 50 cm.

Mobile medical teams have been deployed in Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Nan and Phayao. They have so far treated 1.100 people for muscle pain, skin rashes and headaches.

    Hi
We have good friends in Chiang Mai and they were, to put it mildly, surprised by the flooding in CM. Are there any photos available?

There is talk of flooding in Chiang Mai province, not specifically in the city of CM.

    Hello Cornelius,
Then I probably misunderstood this: 'on the Siriyawong and Sri Ping Muang road in the city up to 50 cm?.
    regards,
