Chatuchak weekend market wants to do away with cash with new app
The Railways, owner and manager of the Chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok, wants to abolish payment with cash at the famous weekend market. Visitors then have to pay with a debit card or via a QR code.
This should be done in June. Parking will also be automated later this year. This is the result of the Thailand 4.0 project, an economic policy focused on technology and innovation. An amount of 100 million baht has been allocated for all changes.
The current Chatuchak Guide app, including information about the location of shops, will be expanded for this purpose. According to a spokesman, this makes it easier for tourists to find their way around the market and also make purchases more easily.
The toilets on the site will also be refurbished, including air conditioning. A toilet visit will then cost 10 baht.
