Thailand will become the stage for world-famous music festivals Summer Sonic and Tomorrowland
Thailand has announced that it will host two major music festivals, Summer Sonic and Tomorrowland, providing a significant boost to the country's event-oriented tourism strategy. This development comes after the disappointment over Taylor Swift's world tour not visiting Thailand, with the government aiming to revitalize the economy by organizing major events.
Famed music festival Summer Sonic will make its first appearance in Southeast Asia at Impact Muang Thong Thani on August 24 and 25, expanding its reach beyond Japan. The internationally renowned dance festival Tomorrowland will take place in Thailand in 2026, with the possibility of starting a series of 10 consecutive events.
These initiatives are part of a broader economic strategy led by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, which includes measures such as visa waivers to attract more tourists. Despite the economy growing at an average of less than 2% over the past decade, which is below the regional average, the government is focusing on extending tourists' length of stay and organizing festivals throughout the year.
Organizers expect that hosting such events will increase the influx of foreign tourists and improve the tourism sector, bringing Thailand closer to its pre-pandemic visitor figure of 40 million.

It is also a bit of a circus in Mexico and other countries in South America, festivals under this name do good business.
Smart of the owner to respond to this and usually a great success, but it remains a completely different festival in terms of design compared to the original once a year in Belgium and you cannot make that comparison except in terms of name.
“Last week there was a lot of speculation in the Thai media about Tomorrowland. According to them, the festival would take place there in 2026. The organization does not deny the interest, but according to spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen it is still too early to confirm anything about this.”
