The government of Thailand has announced a temporary suspension of the 'Tor Mor 6' (TM6) immigration form for foreign travelers at various land and sea border crossings. This measure will come into effect on April 15 and run until October 15, with the aim of simplifying immigration procedures and reducing congestion.

The TM6 form, which requires foreigners to provide their passport and personal travel details on both entry and exit, had already been abolished in July 2022 for travelers arriving by air.

The suspension will affect 16 immigration checkpoints across Thailand. For land access, the relaxed regulations include checkpoints at Sa Kaeo, Mukdahan, Nong Khai, Chiang Rai, Songkhla, Narathiwat and Yala. Specifically, the checkpoints in Mukdahan and Nong Khai will only apply this suspension to travelers using designated land and rail routes.

Maritime entry points will also see simplified procedures at ports located in Chon Buri, Rayong, Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani. This includes major tourist destinations such as Pattaya, Phuket and Samui, where the suspension will make it easier for people arriving on cruise ships and yachts.

This six-month period of relaxed immigration controls is part of Thailand's efforts to improve the accessibility and efficiency of tourism at its borders. The government selected these specific checkpoints based on their high number of foreign visitors and their strategic importance for international travel and trade.

On February 11, when I entered Thailand from Malaysia, I no longer received the form, so apparently they started doing this some time ago.
