Thailand arouses interest from tech giants: Prime Minister Thavisin speaks with Tesla, Google and more major companies
During his visit to the US for the 78th United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin briefed the press on his meetings with national leaders, heads of international organizations and top executives of leading companies such as Tesla, Google, Microsoft, Citibank, JP Morgan, Estee Lauder and others.
The Prime Minister indicated that these predominantly technological and financial companies have shown interest in investing in Thailand. Thavisin further reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to developing a more favorable investment environment that facilitates doing business. He also spoke with representatives of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) about possible stock exchange listings for Thai companies.
He expects these new foreign investments will boost Thailand's economy, which is estimated to grow 2,8% this year. However, this is less than previously predicted, partly due to declining exports.
