The government has announced plans to improve the quality of life for all citizens, especially those who have been victims of road accidents.

Deputy government spokesperson Karom Phonphonklang said that the Ministry of Land Transport, which falls under the Ministry of Transport, is accepting applications for financial assistance intended for assistive devices for these disabled individuals. A budget has been reserved for the 2023 fiscal year.

Karom stressed that applicants must have become disabled as a result of a traffic accident and must not have received support from other funds or agencies in the past three years. Applicants must provide various forms of identification and associated documentation, such as a national identity card, a disability card and medical documentation proving that the disability is the result of a traffic accident.

Applications, accompanied by the necessary documentation, can be submitted to the local transport office from November 1 to December 29.

The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, who have been adversely affected by traffic accidents, by providing them with the necessary assistive devices.

Why only for victims of traffic accidents?
People who were born disabled, or became disabled in some other way would probably also appreciate these aids.

I feel like it's just a cheap promise made to sound expensive.
For example, if there is an insurance policy that has to pay for this.

(I don't have a car myself, so I don't have insurance either, and having a taxi pick you up (by a regular taxi driver) is a lot cheaper than buying a car yourself, so I have no idea how insurance works. )

First of all, let us ensure that the perpetrator pays and that he or she is insured. There is often something wrong with that. And what can be said about compulsory?

A serious accident recently happened here (truck with semi-trailer). Huge amount of damage, fortunately only 2 minor injuries.

The perpetrator was fed up. The police established everything neatly except the fact that the driver had far too much to drink. Afterwards I learned that people sometimes condone alcohol consumption because the insurance does not pay out.

I think this is a completely wrong signal. Drank too much? Don't worry, just carry on calmly. That is also Thailand.

PS: the driver works for a relatively large company down the street. Apparently its owner has quite a bit of standing in the community. Who knows, maybe that's the real reason the drunkenness was covered up. I can only guess...
