Dear readers,

The 2016 European Football Championship will start in a few weeks. After the group stage, however, I will be leaving for Thailand and I was wondering if I could possibly watch the sequel in Thailand via some channel?

Greetings,

Frank

No idea if a TV station in Thailand has bought the rights.

Personally, I'll just follow it via NLTV. So Belgian TV.

There are many bars and drinking establishments where they broadcast this on a large screen to attract tourists. To my chagrin, by the way, because I don't go to Thailand to watch football. But many tourists do and the hospitality industry eagerly responds to that. By the way, I think it would be more fun (if you like football) to share this with other supporters. I don't know exactly where you are in Thailand, but if it is somewhat touristy then you have a very good chance of success.

More than likely we will be in Khon Kaen around that time, or rather, just outside the big city. I know from experience that watching football with our Thai family and friends is a real experience. We were there during the 1998 World Cup. There is support, there is BBQ and other delicacies, but above all there is drinking, regardless of the time of the evening / night at which the matches are broadcast. Now the World Cup is rather a much bigger event than the European Championship, so I don't know if people will pay much attention to it. If it can be viewed somewhere, it will certainly be in a family context, not somewhere in a bar or something... 😉

Just take out a subscription to NLtv and you can watch the Belgian and Dutch channels live or with a delay.

Just to be clear, I'm going on holiday there for about 6 weeks, so I won't be living there.

If I have read correctly, you need an internet connection for NLTV. So I won't have it. I do have a TV and a kind of antenna dish with which I can watch most Thai channels, but no world reception.

    Hello Frank,

I went to pay for my truevision platinum subscription today and asked the question. The answer was…no.
I am not at all satisfied with Thruevision anymore : an expensive subscription (2156 THB) and for that you always get the same films for a year, a smaller selection of western films and now also no European football!!
Fortunately I can still watch via NL-Asia on my laptop.

Damn, I'm afraid the European Football Championship will not be a family celebration. I try to inform myself about possible mobile internet in order to be able to read the reports afterwards on my laptop (which of course comes with me). Thanks Andre. 🙂

Have a subscription to TRUE with Fox Sports, True sports, all the trimmings. I assume I can at least watch it on FOX Sports?

The qualifying rounds of the European Championship were broadcasted by True sport, because I followed the Croatia-Belgium match live in the NR1 bar in Chiang Mai

If you don't have fast internet, your choice is limited. Try MCOT family and otherwise the Lao channels via a dish aimed at Thaicom5. Otherwise you're just out of luck...
