Dear readers,

My trip to Thailand is scheduled for the first week of January. All required Test & Go papers are ready. I expect that Omicron will throw a spanner in the works - firstly an extension of the mandatory ASQ quarantine from 1 to 5 or 7 days, and a greater chance that more fellow passengers on the plane will be Covid positive, so that you as a fellow passenger will also be more chance of having to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

In addition to basic health insurance, I have travel insurance through Emirates, which has a quarantine fee of USD 150 per day. This amount is sufficient for an ASQ hotel. For a private hospital, this is far from sufficient. I have seen amounts of 6 to 7.000 baht per day.

So I'm curious if any of you have extra insurance for this situation. I looked at AXA Sawadee Plan 1 and LUMA Thailand Pass Plan 1. I also want to look at the NL travel insurance policies that are still valid with travel advice Oranje: https://www.reisadvies.nu/verzekering/, including Allianz and ANWB.

Can you advise me which of the insurance policies mentioned offer the best conditions with regard to the “quarantine mandated by the government” clause? Or do you believe that the chance of mandatory quarantine in a hospital is smaller if you are already scheduled for an ASQ quarantine.

Thank you in advance.

Groet

Eddy

Then you don't have to worry at the moment, just read this message point 1:
NOTICE: Test & Go Announcement: Thailand Pass will be closed to all new Test and Go and Sandbox applications (except Phuket Sandbox) until further notice from 00.00:22 AM on December 2021, 1. The following new measures apply to all applicants for the Thailand Pass; 2. Applicants who have received their Thailand Pass QR code can enter Thailand according to the schedule they registered. 3. Applicants who have registered but have not received their QR code must wait for their Thailand Pass to be considered/approved. Once approved, they can enter Thailand according to the schedule they registered. XNUMX. New applicants cannot register for Test and Go and Sandbox measures (except Phuket Sandbox). Thailand Pass only accepts new applicants who wish to enter Thailand under Alternative Quarantine (AQ) or Phuket Sandbox.

Dear Jan, I have no idea what your answer has to do with Eddy's question, he himself already indicates that omicron will probably lead to a (longer) ASQ quarantine for him. His question is about hospitalization after a positive corona test, so I don't see the connection.
