What are luxury excursions in Phuket
Dear readers,
We are going to Thailand on October 21 next year for 16 days, Khao Lak Mmerlin resort. We are looking for fun excursions. We would like to see some interesting architecture, but also how the locals live and live.
We also want to go to Phuket town, to waterfalls, swimming with elephants and to James Bond Island.
We also like to visit a local market.
Who has tips?
Regards,
Dick and Bridget
DO NOT go to James Bond Island, you will see the island of which there are many in Thaland. The rest are souvenir stalls with a lot of junk. It costs a lot of money, this excursion is in my opinion a waste of money.Phuket city is fun to do.
You will stay in khao lak. That is about 1-1,5 hours drive from the airport. Phuket city will be about 2 hours.
From khao lak you can book all kinds of trips on site.
Near khao lak are a few waterfalls. Given the time, they will be filled.
There is an elephant camp at khao sok, a 1,5-hour drive away.
Khao lak has a large night market on certain days of the week.
Has a large selection of restaurants.
Furthermore, Khao Lak is a starting point for diving and snorkeling trips.
And above all a quiet seaside resort.
Have fun
The Khao Lak Merlin is on one side against the touristy Khao Lak, over the mountain, but on the other side fairly close to a Thai village, Thai Muang. Very nice to do this with a scooter or possibly. private taxi to visit. The area around the hotel also invites you to wander around, waterfalls, temples, beautiful nature, etc. Many tours can certainly be booked in the hotel. So is a trip to Phuket.
James Bond Island, if you really want to do this, try to do it yourself with a taxi and not through a tour! Because it is ID. very touristic! When you enter the National Park at Phangnga Bay, say you want to take a boat to James Bond Island, they will arrange a local boat. 1500 baht per boat. So private. Maybe a bit more expensive now. Advice, stay in the boat and do not get off at any stops, nothing local about it, only designed for tourists. But your own choice of course.
Local markets, plenty, elephants bathe everywhere.
Lots of holiday fun in this beautiful area!
As a tip, another very special temple, Wat Tham Nakarat.
Difficult to find, but on route towards Phangnga Bay.
Success!
You can take the bus from Phuket to Phang Gna.
Book a tour through the mangroves and James bond island at your guesthouse, which is much nicer than with a speedboat from Phuket. Spend a day exploring the beautiful surroundings of Phang Gna. Can highly recommend.
If you want to swim and snorkel I recommend Similan island. Was nicer as Phi Phi island. We also went out to sea with a boat and switched to canoes to sail under the rocks at low tide so that one could admire the inside. Sail out in time so that you don't want to be locked up.
We were in November 2 weeks in Khao Lak hotel The Sands. From there we have made many beautiful trips. I thought the Similan Islands were the most beautiful. From Khao Lak it is ideal to visit the Similan Islands because it is only a 15-minute drive to the pier and then 90 minutes by boat anyway.
We also made a day trip to Khao Sok National Park. This is also recommended; washing elephants and canoeing on the river SOK.
We also went to the waterfall an Tongchongfa by scooter. Not far and nice 1km walk to the waterfall. The national park Khaolak Lam Ru (not far from your hotel) is also beautiful.
After that we went to Patong for another 2 weeks and from there we made many trips.
