Home » Reader question » Reader question: Is alcohol served on planes from the Middle East?
Dear readers,
I read good stories here on Thailandblog about airlines from the Middle East, for example Emirates, Etihad or Qatar that fly to Bangkok. The ticket prices are cheap and you can take more luggage plus good service on board. Reason enough to try it once.
But… because these companies come from Muslim countries, is alcohol served on board? I'm on vacation and want to be able to drink a beer during the flight.
Who oh who can tell me that?
Best,
Arnold
I flew to Bangkok with Emirates last week and beer was available on board. Emirates was perfect by the way. Definitely recommended.
Alcohol is served on board of Emirates and Etihad! Have been flying with these companies for many years and the services on board are perfect, a lot of companies can make a point.
Better leg room, good food on board, friendly service, I don't fly anywhere else anymore!!
true, I flew with Emirates for years, but recently switched to Ethiad, because the waiting times in Dubai were crazy and with Ethiad, but only waiting 2 hours in Abu Dhabi is much better and alcohol is fine, beer or wine is free and stronger alcohol is also there
I've been back and forth with Etihad recently and a beer is no problem at all, in fact the onboard service is a revelation. Etihad and others are emphatically working on the “air”.
Etihad is currently very successful and you can see that at their home base Abu Dhabi. They cannot handle the huge flow of people there at the moment and you will be taken to and from the plane with a shuttle bus.
Furthermore, the route from AD to Bnk and vv is carried out with a B777, you might say fine, but unfortunately with an extra seat in the row, which makes it quite cramped.
Despite the excellent service on board, this is not worth repeating, next time maybe give Emirates a try.
Regards Joy
Then I have to disappoint you because the layout of their 777 is also 3-4-3. Just like with almost any other company.
The only airline I know that doesn't serve alcohol is Egypt Air. However, it is one of the cheapest airlines with which you can fly from Amsterdam to Bangkok. Apart from the alcohol, it's a great society
That's right, flew with Qatar from Bru via Doha to Bangkok, and there was champagne, wine and spirits on board… I'd say it's volonté.
Doha is “deadsville” if you want to have a beer during the stopover… . This “should” be a thing of the past when the new airport is inaugurated (next year??).
in the airport itself I have seen NO alcohol I dare not say I really don't know
Hi;
You can normally drink alcohol on the plane, much better organized than at KLM,
When I recently asked for a fourth beer on the KLM plane (0.25 l cans), the stewardess asked if I would drink it.
was going to put. hahahaha, what a fool!
You will not experience this with a company from the Middle East.
Better service and better staff.
good trip,
gr jw
Don't want to generalize, but I have regularly encountered drunk people on the plane and that is certainly no fun for the other passengers! A company that does not serve alcoholic drinks or only serves a maximum of 2 alcoholic drinks is an advantage rather than a disadvantage. Definitely like a drink yourself, but unfortunately not everyone knows their size. Enjoy a drink at your destination, as much as you want.
Only see positives stories, so don't worry about my own! Because always fly with China or eva air, now from Düsseldorf July 19 for the first time with emirates! Live it up already!! And a beer more or less doesn't matter to me. Grab a few in advance! Greeting.
Last year I flew with Ethiad from AUH Abu Dhabi to BKK Bangkok Suvrabumi and alcoholic drinks were also served.
