Dear readers,

We intend to plan a trip from the Netherlands to Bangkok and have the choice between a direct flight with China Airlines or a direct flight with KLM. The price difference is 150 euros (KLM more expensive), but I do not know China Air, so I have my doubts about this.

Can you give me more information about this airline?

Thanks in advance.

Camille

    Hello

Why not take a look at the site of Eva air also go directly
and usually cheaper and the service I find better.

    • T. Vonk says up

      Hello
Indeed Eva Air is a good company, I have flown to Bangkok several times. There is nothing wrong with China Air either. Just compare the prices.
      Success.

    • Hetty says up

Indeed eva air is good, we always go with eva air, and you can choose from 3 classes there, economic, elite, and buisniss. And is also direct.if you book elite class the seating arrangement is 2, 4, 2.

      Hallo,
We have been flying with China Air for many years and will do so again soon. It's a great company and the service is great. We flew to Den Passar with KLM 3 years ago and we did not like that at all. Paid extra for seating space, but the seats weren't adjustable. etc. Service was also less than China Air.

    • tome says up

I am going to thailand in April next year with eva airways for the first time before that I flew with china airlines who have a very good service friendliness and the food is good eva is cheaper and also offers a good service I hear all asian companies know a good reputation

  2. Tlharrie says up

    Are all 3 good
I always fly Eva because they have Big zits
and flight times are important to me
with china you arrive nice and early, you still have the whole day ahead of you to travel through

  3. Peter says up

We have traveled several times with KLM, China Airlines and EVA. When I talk about Economy class, in our experience there is little difference. At KLM the legroom is slightly smaller (you can check how much exactly on seatguru.com). At KLM the meals are a bit more European-oriented. Then there is some difference in the amount of luggage you can take with you. And the time of departure from Amsterdam and Bangkok differs. All personal little preferences. For years we have been paying between 600 and 750 euros for the tickets, with all three companies. There are also small differences regarding the service. We also notice that this sometimes differs per flight. Probably also depends on the flight attendants how tired they are, how the team works etc.

It's just flying 11 hours, sitting in a chair, eating a simple snack and checking your clock to see if you're there yet. 🙂 I would say, look at price, flight times, how much luggage you can take with you and make your choice, you really can't go wrong.

    • Christina says up

What's wrong are the other airlines. If we want a stop in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific is super. Last year I flew with Air France on Promo tickets, not recommended. We're not bothered, but the dinner on the way back from Bangkok you don't give to a dog after tasting a small piece of the chicken you already felt sick, it didn't look good either. Complained and we got points back also the staff was not friendly. A lump of chagarijn was not even watered an hour before landing.
So soon again with another company.

  4. Bart says up

    Hihay,

Been with China Airlines twice. Wildly enthusiastic! Multiple meals included, friendly professional cabin crew, and really nothing I could find fault with.

  5. Jacquess says up

We always fly with China Air or Eva Air because they are always cheaper than KLM. The service is just okay, nothing to complain about. For that extra hundred and fifty euros you can take a so-called evergreen seat at EVA with the space of an old-fashioned business class seat but the economy service.

    Good trip !

    • Tom Teuben says up

That thing about that nice big evergreen chair is no longer correct; that was in the 747.
In the 777 there is only 2 cm (!) difference with the economy seat.

  6. Melanie says up

    China airlines are the best.
Nice and important, by the way, china works with klm as long as you get there, that's the most important thing after all!!!!

  7. Rob Duve says up

I always try to fly with China Airlines because
    it's a very good company.
The staff is super friendly and the food is great too
tasty and the advantage is that they leave at 14:30 pm
from AMS so that you also arrive nice and early at BKK

    • edward says up

I always take an annual ticket with China Airlines and can always change the date and don't forget the extra luggage of 30 kg that you can take with China Airlines and the friendly service at meals

  8. Anja says up

    Hi Camille,

You can go with China airlines with confidence, have already been there 3 times and the same as KLM only in With Chinese personnel.
They are also friends with KLM.

    Regards Anja

  9. wim says up

    good morning

Better China Air than KLM even though the price difference would have been lower

    wim

  10. Rob says up

    Dear Camille,

Have flown with China a few times a year for years.
Recently I only go with KLM for personal reasons, such as arrival and departure time, which now suits me better.

Feel free to take the cheaper one. There is nothing wrong with China (or Eve).

    Rob

  11. David Mertens says up

Of all the airlines I have ever flown with to Thailand and there are quite a few, KLM was the worst. So I would say do it!

    • Jan says up

Then you haven't been with Aeroflot yet. Also a partner of KLM. Last time with KLM. Was fine.

  12. Rob says up

    camille,

I have been flying with CA for years and I think the legroom is better and more spacious and that is why I no longer fly with KLM. I am 1.90 meters and 110 kg. Gr Rob

  13. Jan says up

Eva Air, better flight times non-stop just like KLM and China Airlines,
excellent staff and among the top 10 airlines in the world

  14. gonnie says up

    Hallo,
Agree with Alan, also look at Eva.
KLM is usually more expensive, you have to pay extra for all your preferences, we like the service at Eva the best
We find the flight times more favorable, China Air always flies back at night, your day will be very long.
With Eva you will return to Amsterdam early in the evening, for us that means home around 20.00 pm.
Just check the mail, fight for an hour against sleep, go to bed around 23.00 p.m. and you'll soon be back in your rhythm.

  15. Hans says up

I have been flying for years with China Airlines or Eva Air, and sometimes KLM. The big advantage of China Airlines for me is the departure and arrival time: outward journey at 7 am in Bangkok, and return journey at 2 am. The latter has the advantage that I am not bothered by the traffic jams in Bangkok. Moreover, when I leave at 2 am, I am so tired that I fall asleep spontaneously, and then hardly suffer from jet lag the next day. And yes, there is a slight difference in service. I always have very good experiences with KLM (especially the food), EVA Air too, China Airlines is slightly less, but I don't have much trouble with that upon arrival.

    • Henk says up

Completely agree with Hans, flight times are excellent, but Idk, food is a lot but mediocre.

  16. According to says up

I have been flying with China airlines for more than 10 years and nothing but praise for this company. Always on time and an advantage is that you fly back to Amsterdam at 02.00 so you can take the whole day with you. KLM flies back early so you have to be very be at the airport early

  17. Food says up

I have often flown with both China air and KLM, both are good in terms of care and service.
    There isn't much difference.

  18. Leny says up

Have flown several times with China airlines and always experienced it as pleasant. I think the advantage of china airlines is that you leave in the afternoon, and if you can sleep in a plane you arrive in thailand at about 7 am (Thai time). Good luck with your choice
    Fr gr Leny

  19. joop says up

    Hoi

It's very easy for me. China Airlines is much, much better

  20. Clean says up

Dear Camille, I have lived in China for 15 years and have flown regularly with China airlines and other Chinese airlines and my experience has been nothing short of good.

    • Kees says up

Dear Reint, you wrote that you have lived in China for 15 years. But just for your information. China Airlines is the flag carrier of Taiwan, and has only recently returned to China for several years. You may be confused with China Southern.

      • kjay says up

Reint, think rather Air China that Kees means! By the way, this is China's national pride! Home port Beijing (Beijing). Have to admit Air China is also downright good for me!

  21. Aad says up

    camille,

I fly with China air or Eva air Business class, whichever has the best offer.
Elite Class from Eva air is also good.

Look for the seats and space at seatguru.

    Aad

    • Herbie says up

      Dear Adam,

if you regularly fly business class with them then you should know that EVA has a much better business class than China.
EVA has its own compartment seats that can be fully set up as a bed.
China has the same seats as KLM that can be put in a semi-reclined position, so to speak.
China does have the same seats as Eva, but not on route ams-bkk, see website.

Eva is a great company, wonderful times, good service
China is a great company, I think times are less, good service
      KLM worthless service

      mvg
      Herbie

      • Aad says up

        Dear Herbie,

Eva air's business class has been better for 2 years now, but there is also a price difference
400 to 700 hundred euros per person.

For that money I can do nice things in Thailand.

        Best regards. aad

  22. red says up

Good company from Taiwan with a much better service than Eva-air!!!!!

  23. arnold says up

Going to Thailand for the fourth time and flew three times with Eva air, which was excellent. Eva air has slightly more legroom in economy class.

  24. Diny Maas says up

I would recommend China Air. We usually fly with them and you have more legroom than with KLM. And the service is fine, nothing wrong with that.

    • Richard says up

Eva and China Air are super good!

With Eva you can take 23 kilos, with China air 30 kilos!

  25. Gerard says up

I have been flying with China for about 20 years. .ca. 3 times a year. .about service no complaints . .fly daily in high season . .so you can change faster in case of calamities. .
The main advantage, however, is that you fly back at night. around 02.00 and you are back in NL around 09.30 in the morning (when you can sleep fit and well again)
With KLM or EVA air , you fly back during the day . .
So get up. .having breakfast . .to the airport . .13 hours on the plane (just out of sleep) arrives back in NL early in the evening. .before you have to be somewhere in NL it's time for bed again. .
Count out your profit. (so not the price) but almost an extra day of vacation. .and the return flight goes fast, you don't notice while sleeping. .

  26. French says up

    Dear Camille,
with China Airlines, you have small seats and little legroom the food is bad, KLM is a bit old-fashioned, I have flown with both companies, if you want to fly directly go with Eva Air, if you want to make a stopover fly with Ethiad , good service and good seats, you can also use your mobile phone and internet in the device.
Good luck and have fun, Frans.

  27. Bert says up

I flew to Bangkok with China, Eva and KLM.
    My preference is for China.
Reason: excellent service and especially the flight time back.
KLM was in all cases slightly less in terms of service and indeed also more expensive.
    Have a nice trip!

  28. wil says up

Good morning, we have also flown with China Airlines several times and we can only say excellent. But now I want to respond to flying with Eva air, that it is so cheap. Are currently also looking for a direct connection Ams for family in the Netherlands. to Bangkok and also looked at Eva air. I don't know if € 5.633.30 (and this is not a joke Cheap tickets and Vliegwinkel) is that cheap for a direct flight. Or are these types of errors?

    • According to says up

      Look at http://www.bmair.nl/tickets/vliegtickets.html

  29. Fons says up

We have also been to Thailand many times with China KLM and also with Malaysia. It is all wet. In China the food is very bad and when it comes to drinks it is a different kind every time that makes you feel nauseous. At KLM it is the food is very good and those who complain about it may have never had anything decent themselves. And in Malaysia the food is also very good. But we are sure of one thing, the seats are very tight and it is high time that something was done there. something was done about it. Just like chickens in a cage, something was also done about it. And then KLM takes it faster than the rest because the engines are made of terbunnus gas. It saves half an hour on the return flight than China.

    • Cornelis says up

Don't be under any illusions about doing anything about seats - they're going to get tighter rather than roomy. The average traveler wants to get to the other side of the world for next to nothing, so the airlines are squeezing in more and more seats. Paying a little more for more space is already possible – I like to do that myself and therefore travel comfortably in business class next month.

    • Herbie says up

KLM flies a different route than Eva, that's the time difference

  30. ANDRE DESCHUYTEN says up

Dear Camille, I have flown both Economy (in the past) and Business (in recent years) to Bangkok (Krung Thep). For me EVA AIR Business is much better than China Airlines or KLM, much better seats, more legroom with my 2m04, better food. Last time flown with KLM – Boeing 777-300 ER and very disappointing, was still the old business class, service was good but not enough legroom. Have also looked at the Economy class every time and in my opinion, for larger people, EVA Air is the best. If you are tall, please take this into account. Have a good trip, I will return to Sakon Nakhon at the end of November – mid December, I will always compare prices and think I will book Qatar Airways now, as a business-class customer you can have a hotel room if the waiting time during the transfer is too long, otherwise you can go to the business lounge. The price is completely different from EVA, China or KLM (significantly cheaper and not 150 euros but sometimes 300 euros in Economy and up to 700 euros difference in business, but you do have a stopover)

  31. Renee Martin says up

Camille as others have also pointed out EVA may also be an option for you. If you look at the safety ratings, they are not so different from each other, but EVA does score better on service level. It often depends on the cabin crew how you experience the flight and I generally liked that better with EVA and CA, although I also had a very good experience with KLM once. If you arrive or leave in the middle of the night, you may also need a hotel, which costs extra. The food in the KLM is a bit more Western, but I prefer Asian myself and given the quality of the food, if that is an important point for you, I would rather opt for EVA. KLM and CA fly every day and EVa I think 1x a week. Maybe not important, but also look at possible cancellation or change options because if you like Thailand so much, you can possibly stay longer.

  32. frank says up

I will take China Airlines, I have flown with them and I have also flown with KLM, I will say take China Airlines

  33. Thick says up

I choose KLM because the service is much better than many people think. Most choose China because it is cheaper and therefore automatically a good company for them. China Airlines is one of the top ten airlines with the most accidents. Leg room is often mentioned, but who notices the difference of 2-3 cm!!! China food is very bad and the chairs are old and saggy.

  34. john mak says up

Dear, I would also inquire about EVA air, an excellent company that also flies directly from Amsterdam to Bangkok, an evening flight. Also regularly has great offers

  35. Inge van der Wijk says up

    Good Morning,
We traveled to Bangkok with China Airlines last January and thought it was very good (economy class).
We always try to make sure that one person sits in the aisle (can you go again
alternate). The service was fine. According to my partner, the food was fine (I never eat during
a flight, at least not airplane food). In the night you could drink so much and nuts yourself
pick up if you wanted. The staff left you alone during the night flight. Nice!
It's a long seat, but you prepare for that, whichever airline you fly with.
I would say : Fly China Airlines.

  36. Henk Luyters says up

    Hallo,
In 2012 we traveled to Thailand for the first time. In 2014 back to Thailand. We made the trip with China Airlines the first time with great satisfaction. No complaints at all. The 11 hour flight to Bangkok went fine. The service in the plain was excellent. Checking in at China Airline also went smoothly. Our trip next November will be with China Airlines again.
    Hg
    Mauke and Hank.

  37. Ton says up

Have flown with all 3 and all 3 are good airlines. The disadvantage of China Airlines is the arrival and departure times. You arrive early in the morning and your hotel room is often not available before 15.00 p.m. Departure is at approx. 03.00 at night while you have to leave your room at 12.00 the day before. But others on this site find this schedule just fine. At the moment there is a lot of stunting with destination Bangkok and I would keep a close eye on the offers.

  38. Pam says up

Have fun with China Air. For € 150,– you can do fun things in Thailand and it will remain as bad and as long. Mind at zero and gaze at infinity. Both airlines try to accommodate as many passengers as possible. Economy class is definitely not a luxury.

  39. online says up

    China Airlines.
friendly professional staff, good trip times just perfect.

  40. According to says up

I used to always fly klm but now more and more china airlines they are much cheaper and it is also fine
I can also always change for free and that is terribly expensive at KLM. I always fly business class
I flew economy once and that was fine less space though.

  41. Rachid says up

Have flown with China Air several times and experienced it as very pleasant. Flight times were great too!

  42. Anja says up

Have a look at bmairreizen, they always have competitive prices.
For next to nothing you can also get transfer and 1 overnight stay.
    Good experiences.

    Regards Anja

  43. Jos says up

    Dear people,

China Air and Eva Air are great, KLM is also good, but service and friendliness on the plane is important to me.
So that's why I prefer to fly with China Air and Eva Air, because honestly, what do you see?
A beautiful slender stewardess from China or Eva Air, or a Dutch lady who always nudges you when they trot by??

    Best regards,

    Josh.

  44. Patrick says up

Also a good experience with China air, which is not a Chinese or a Taiwanese airline.
Clean modern aircraft with all amenities, including sockets for your laptop.
Moreover, you are already in a holiday mood because the staff is more exotic and frivolous than the old aunts at KLM.

  45. lucette absillis says up

we opt for China air as there are only 2 seats next to each other… ie. no third person next to you and on such a long flight I think that is a must if you fly with 2. The food is not for us, we eat our tummy nicely full in Schiphol and do not need anything else until we are in Bangkok, we have cookies with us if we are hungry. I must say that it is confusing that you say that you can take 30 kg. NOT so, we book at E- bookers and they don't get this favour, I stood there shining beautifully last year, I was able to solve it with hand luggage and also a pity that you cannot reserve your seats in advance. But still a cheap, neat, flight that you always book from Belgium.

  46. Annie says up

We have been flying China-air for 12 years... no complaints. Excellent company. We also wanted to try Eva air, but since we always fly to Aussie after 4 weeks, we cannot do that, because Thaipe is the final station of Eva

  47. Frank says up

Well, I think I've had enough advice already, but here's mine too. I usually fly with China airlines, because of the nice departure and arrival times. Also arranged with eva air, like next February. Unfortunately, the departure and arrival are less favorable, but it was still considerably cheaper when I booked and just took into account the length of the holiday. Both companies recommended. Quality and service is excellent also in the economy class I travel in. Have a nice holiday.

  48. Ad van Miert says up

    I'd love to receive responses!

  49. Johan says up

Go for CA, favorable times and 30 kg of luggage, food on board is just good and if you want to eat something at non-meal times, that is also possible, a sandwich or a cup of soup.

We are going again with CA on November 19 and have tickets for 555 euros per person including booking costs.

  50. Albert says up

China Air is a great airline, I like it better than KLM, service on board is fine at KLM, I found it a bit messy, take advantage of the 150 euros

  51. Durk place says up

I have been flying with China Airlines for years and I can highly recommend this airline. I have only had good experiences with this company. I have never had a single delay. Greetings, Durk

  52. Rudy says up

Last year I flew to Bangkok with Ethiad.
We liked it very much. Now we have already booked for June 2016 and thought of Qathy in terms of price but said we would go with Ethiad

  53. peters says up

I recently flew with KLM and the service was fine, the staff is sometimes a bit older, but I have no problems with this at all.
The advantage is also that they fly the fastest and you could eat and drink during the entire journey.

  54. Roland Jacobs says up

Of the 12 times I have flown with China-Air, I have to say that it is a good company.
Friendly cabin staff and the food is not too bad, but especially the arrival time nice and early in the morning and the departure time, then you have the whole day to enjoy your first day of holiday, and the departure time at around 02.00 a.m. is very good. , you can also enjoy it all day until 21.00 p.m. in the evening of your last day of vacation. Give me China Air.

  55. servant of laps says up

Very good company China airlines, I have now traveled 4 times with China airlines and can only say excellent.
You go into the air and after half an hour the first drink comes, after another hour you get a good hot meal and very friendly staff, you get a second drink, then you go to sleep and in the morning you get another meal with drink coffee tea or soft drink, really high praise

  56. Thaimo says up

I think KLM is the least good of the 3..
China Airlines departs in the afternoon and that's nice.
Have flown 2x to Bangkok with Eva Air so far, I thought this was the best of the 3 vwb seats, space and food only I don't like the times, then I really have jet lag that only comes after 3 days of straightening because you get here late the evening after 21.30 departs and you then arrive in Bangkok late in the day. But yes .. you can't have everything and the latter does not apply to everyone of course.
