Dear readers,

Question about capital gains tax. I emigrated to Thailand on 01-04-2014, deregistered from the Netherlands.

Do you have to pay this tax for the whole year or only for the 3 months that you lived in the Netherlands?

Can't find anything about it anywhere. Saves 75%! Worth the effort!

Yours faithfully,

Henk

Unfortunately Henk, the reference date is January 1, so you pay for the whole year.
    See here the tax authorities.

Wealth is the value of your assets minus your debts. You take the value on 1 January of all your possessions. You may also add the value of the assets of your tax partner and/or minor children to this. You deduct your debts minus the threshold. You do the same with the debts of your tax partner and minor children.

    Dear Henk.
Only the full months in a year count in this case. So only January to March 2014. I specified this in 2012 and this was also approved. It is a pity that you were not deregistered on March 31.

Have deregistered from the Netherlands as of 01-06-2008. Only paid for the first 2008 months in 5. So saved me a lot of money. Found out in 2009 when I had to file my return. Gr Alberto

I emigrated in 2011 and deregistered from the GBA, but as far as I know I still paid capital gains tax in 2 years last year, can't see why because I never received an assessment myself (because my address is not correct for tax purposes), they then deducted from my state pension, as far as I know now, you also have to deregister yourself from the Roermond tax?
if so can i get a refund?
