Dear readers,

I live in Chiang Mai, want to go to Phuket or Cambodia (Siem Reap) for a week around January 18-20. Do I also have to be tested, and in a “special” hotel? Or are you, as a vaccinated person, living in Thailand free to come and go?

I have the Mor Prom App, paper receipt and yellow Thai vaccination booklet. Had 2 Pfizer vaccinations in Sept/Oct last year.

Regards,

Piet

There are no problems traveling within Thailand so far. To Cambodia is fairly easy, apply for an E-visa on the Cambodian government site for about 37 Euro and a PCR test before departure. On arrival a quick test at the airport and you are free to go… if negative of course. The problem lies in entering Thailand again… Applying for a Thai pass, pcr test before departure, insurance, pcr test on arrival and only entering via Phuket without full quarantine, you must stay on Phuket for 7 days and another pcr test before you go again back to Chiang Mai. Another problem is that there are no direct flights from Cambodia to Phuket. Have we not yet mentioned the danger of 1 positive pcr test… mandatory 2 weeks of quarantine at your own expense and even more testing…. Phuket is the wise choice I would say…
