Reader question: Who knows a nice holiday address in Chiang Rai?
Dear readers,
At the end of December, four relatives will be visiting and we will visit Bangkok and Phuket as our first holiday stops. We stay in hotels. But after that, about the second half of January 2, we want to go into nature in the north of Thailand.
I am thinking of renting holiday homes in the Chiangrai area: not too far from the city itself, but not too far from all the countryside. We have our own transport. We want to take (long) walks, but also bike rides and take pictures. We drive ourselves to the starting points.
The accommodation may be a bit less luxurious than in hotels, but comfortable. By comfortable we mean clean beds, decent sanitary facilities, well-maintained accommodations.
Are there people who know names, addresses, websites and/or their own experiences of and with (nature) resorts, holiday parks and other forms of accommodation in and around Chiangrai?
Who knows beautiful walking and cycling routes, respectively car routes to explore the area?
Thanks in advance for possible suggestions.
With kind regards,
Arnold
I will be staying here for a few days next month: http://www.homestay-chiangrai.com/nl
Possibly something for you?
Been to homestay-chiangrai for a week in February, definitely recommended.
Run by a man from Brabant and his Thai wife, this beautiful homestay is beautifully situated between rice fields and overlooking a Buddhist monastery.
Has set out beautiful cycling routes in the area.
Hello Arnold.
A truly recommended place, run by a charming Dutch lady and her children.

Have a look at their site.
Feel free to report my username, it might not get you a discount, but you never know.
Pleasant stay.
Didit.
Go to Chiang Rai again in January for a few days and then for the 3rd or 4th time we will stay at the Homestay of Toony and Pheat, see the links above, highly recommended. I think you have to book on time because it is often full not because it is so massive but not that big (something like 8 rooms) but fully equipped. Walking/cycling/scooter tours, swimming pool, good restaurant with Thai and Dutch dishes/snacks. Located a few kilometers outside Chiang Rai, but with your own transport you are in the city in no time. The owner also takes the guests away daily and then back by taxi is about 100-150 Bht.
just been here for the 3rd time this summer:

lovely resort on the edge of the center, so easily walkable and also with a tuktuk.
lovely rooms, great pool.
Homestay Chiang Rai is an absolute must. Toony and Phaet love it! We are going in February for the fifth time. Beautiful location, delicious food, own transport is so easy.
Completely agree with the Homestay fans. Beautiful small-scale resort, beautiful rooms, wonderful beds.
Rent a moped and explore the beautiful surroundings. Toony knows all the beautiful places.
