Top up cover for pickup truck, experiences?

Dear readers,

We have an Isuzu, D-max, hi lander, x-series, blue power, 1.9. A pick up truck, built in 2017. Bought mainly for use on our farm. Now that we roll up our sleeves a little less ourselves, we have chosen to tour Thailand a bit more. With us and our 2 daughters aged 13 and 15, there is plenty of room in this spacious 5-seater. However, luggage, suitcases and other items must be left uncovered in the trunk.

We would like to purchase a Top Up Cover, electrically operated or not. However, after inquiry it appears that something like this is not available in our area, Sakaew / Aranyaprathet.

Are there any readers who have purchased a top up cover? If so,

  • what should you pay attention to when purchasing;
  • how old is the cover and what did it cost;
  • what did you like and what not;
  • do you have any tips for a good and reliable garage that installs top up covers?

Regards,

Rob

    Hello Rob,

    I bought one 4 years ago from the Super up brand for the price of 40000 Bth for my Isuzu.
    Benefits:
    It's neat and tidy
    When you go somewhere everything is protected and you don't have to take everything out
    I can also operate it from the inside, don't have to go out
    People are protected from the rain from above.
    Cons ;
    Due to the limited height, you cannot take a moped or other large things with you, let alone a tree
    Fellow passengers must be careful not to touch the greasy (grease) parts.
    Make sure you have it done professionally, otherwise the lid will be crooked, wrong drill holes, etc.
    If I could choose again, I think I'll take an aluminum roller, can also be locked and I can take larger items, but that's my opinion.
    good luck,

    Will

    A few years ago I also had a hardtop fitted to my Mitsubishi carryboy brand truck at a reputable company. It is certainly important that this is mounted in such a way that it runs neatly straight ahead with the roofline and not, as you regularly see, that it is higher at the rear than at the cabin of the truck. The advantages are that you can transport goods dry and that you can transport people (maximum 6) also on the (paid) highways. The disadvantage is that space is limited and you can no longer take oversized goods with you. In my case, after a few months, the operation of the reverse heating and the windshield wipers, the interior lighting failed. It turned out that the electrical wires that run through corrugated flexible pipes to these parts had been affected by water. They were damaged by rain and a high-pressure cleaner from car cleaning. So warn the companies with car cleaning because this turned out to be vulnerable. .
