Home » Reader question » Reader question: How do I get a (temporary) postal address in Thailand?
Dear readers,
I'm leaving for Thailand for good in a few months. I need a (postal) address for various authorities. Since I am looking for a place to stay there, I need an address in Thailand for a short time.
Are there also postal addresses in Thailand?
Yours faithfully,
Hans
Hi, you can at any post office
rent a mailbox. Inexpensive and easy to arrange.
Do you have to be in Thailand and not stay in the Netherlands or Belgium as I understand from the questioners.
Request a PO box at the post office, 200 baht per year, works great and you have your own PO box number and therefore a postal address in the place where you will live.
But if you are not yet sure in which corner you will live, will it be easy to change it later in the Netherlands?
I have had a PO box in Nathon on Koh Samui for 10 years. Very handy.
The costs were 100 baht per year for years, but a few years ago increased to 1 baht per year in 500 fell swoop. a huge increase, but still a pittance 🙂
Hi Hans,
We live in Hua Hin. I'm going to NL early next year. I have already paid the rent until August 2016. Can you possibly take over. Do you have an address right away! (3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, swimming pool, cool and beautiful house)
Let me know if you're interested.
Mrsg, Wim
Dear Wim, we may be interested in your home.
Please email more information, address, costs and photos to [email protected]

Walter and Ria
I am definitely interested, but I will be coming at the end of March or the beginning of April. Can you send some info?
Hans,
We plan to leave on March 1, but I myself have been back for a few weeks at the beginning of January. Just name an email address and I'll send you info.
Wim
e-mail address:
[email protected]
Thank you!
Thailand is big. It is not clear in the writing where that postal address should be. So please explain questioner.
Basically somewhere in Thailand, preferably Bangkok, but must be able to set up from the Netherlands.
Ahoi Hans, what should you be able to set up from NL? Do not understand. You also say for a short time; how long / short is short time ? Ad.
Short time <4 months. Transfer of pension, state pension, etc. I no longer have an address in NL. Initially need 3 to 4 months and then I will have a definitive address in Thailand.
Ahoi Hans, maybe I can help you. Which region are you going to settle in? Ad.
No final decision yet, but somewhere up to ca.75km from BKK.
Rent a mailbox at a post office.
If you rent a PO box, does this immediately count as proof of recidivism? This would be easy…
Does the tax also send assessments and the like to a PO box in Thailand? Also mail from SVB and ABP? I thought you had to have a "real" address for that sort of thing. Anyone experience with this?
