Dear readers,

I have known my girlfriend for 2 years now and now want to bring her to the Netherlands for 3 months to introduce her to my daughter who lives in America.

What you have to do for a visa is all clear to me, but I can't find any info anywhere when it comes to a friend and her kids.

Can someone tell me if it is even possible to bring my girlfriend and her 2 children to the Netherlands on a vkv visa and what I may have to do or need for this?

Hope it's all possible, haven't seen my daughter for 3 years since I'm wheelchair bound and no company will accept me if I only want to go to America to visit my daughter. So would like to spend a nice time with my daughter grandchildren and my girlfriend and her children.

Yours faithfully,

Herman

Of course you can apply for a visa for your girlfriend and her children, but you must meet a number of requirements. Important to know is:
    – A separate application must be started for each applicant.
    – What is required can be found on the website of the embassy and their referral to rijksoverheid.nl and VFS Global. Read those pages carefully.
    – On Thailand Blog there are more tips for a good preparation and that is half the work. See my comments here .
    – The use of VFS Global is actually completely optional and voluntary, you do not necessarily have to make a reservation through them. Also see my comments here .
    – For the sake of completeness, what your girlfriend and children need is a Short Stay Visa, also called a Schengen C visa, also known as a “tourist visa”. This allows a stay of up to 90 days in the entire Schengen area. The purpose of their visa application will be “visiting friends”, as you have no official relationship (marriage, etc.).

If there are any specific questions you have after reading the file here on the Thailand blog and the Dutch embassy website, please feel free to ask them. The embassy staff can also help you with questions (if necessary, they will refer you to the RSO, Regional Support Office in Kuala Lumpur, which now decides on applications. They are therefore the "back office" and the embassy in Thailand is the "front office". who collects applications and papers and then forwards them to Kuala Lumpur for processing). I have always received very correct and timely assistance from the embassy (Ms. Devici often answers within 1 working day, quickly, clearly and friendly). So don't worry about “discouragement policy” or the like as long as you prepare the applications well. Good luck in advance! 😀

      Dear Rob ,

thank you for the response and your explanation, I will look through the website again and, if necessary, when I get back to the Netherlands, contact ind, I think they can help me further, the paper part for a vkv is not all problem, that is all in order (invitation letter, employer statement or contract and the income requirements too)

If I have any questions, please let me know, thanks again
