Thailand question: Sandbox Phuket or Koh Samui?
Dear readers,
I'm hesitating between Phuket Sandbox or the Samui sandbox. I see an older article from Bangkok post that Samui would also relax as of October 01, but don't see that further. It would be the same as Phuket, ie just waiting in the room for a day for the PCR test and not 4 days and also free on Samui and not just dedicated routes. Does anyone know anything more about that?
With only one day in the room and freedom to move around the island, I have a slight preference for Samui because you can then fly to BKK (more pleasant and cheaper itinerary than Qatar to HKT, where you have to transfer 3 hours at night to Doha ) and in BKK within 12 hours on a dedicated flight to Samui.
And that's my last question: I don't see where you can book that flight from BKK to Samui because they're not on skyscanner or the Bangkok Airways website. The numbers are:
- PG5125 ETD10.05 (TH local time)
- PG5151 ETD14.35 (TH local time)
- PG5171 ETD17.10 (TH local time)
Anyone know where to book it?
I like to hear.
Regards,
Peter

PHUKET has so much more to offer than Samui!
fly directly from Schiphol to Singapore
Wait 2 hours
than 1,5 hours flight to Phuket
and all this with the best airline in the world, signapore airlines
with perfect flight hours, you arrive in signapore at 6am
at 9:15 am you are in Phuket
so you don't have to fly at all via doha or abu dhabi
another alternative is via hong kong
Cathay pacific
You can only fly directly to Phuket to be allowed to go into a Sandbox after 7 days you can also stay there for a week on Koh Samui. I will be waiting for the 7 days scheme for fully vaccinated which will come into effect next month October 2021,
kind regards, Andre
Unfortunately I have to disappoint you. That relaxation will not continue. I think things are smoother on Phuket than on Samui. Everyone contradicts each other in government.
On AseanOne at featured comments there is a nice description of an expat who lives on Samui and entered through the Phuket sandbox. 7 days Phuket and then 7 days Samui.
He prefers Phuket to Samui. Interesting response. Would have rather stayed on Phuket for the whole 14 days.
Dear Peter,
Sandbox set up to enter Thailand directly from outside.
No airline flies to Koh Samui from outside Thailand. Because even then you would have to remain in the aircraft at BKK in order to continue flying.
If you transfer to Savarnabhum, you have to stay in an ASQ hotel in Bangkok or Pattaya.
So to go to Koh Samui you take the 7+7 days sandbox: then you first stay on Phuket for 7 days and after 7 days, if tested negative, go to Koh Samui's Sandbox.
I wonder if this information from PEER is correct.
An acquaintance of mine is flying with Lufthansa to Bangkok/Samui next week.
You do indeed have to transfer in Bangkok to a flight from Bangkok Air to Samui.
My information is that if you don't leave the airport, you can continue flying.
You do not have to quarantine in Bangkok or Pattaya, but go into quarantine
on Samui in a hotel that has been pre-booked and paid for.
If this information is incorrect, my acquaintance is in for a nasty surprise and
may already be sent back in Frankfurt.
Is what you say Ioe, you have to let a travel agency book this flight Amsterdam – Bangkok – Samui
In Bangkok you stay in transit and transfer to the plane to Samui, a so-called package trip.
Just look at Sha+ Samui

On 25/9 my girlfriend called bangkok airways. You can fly via bangkok, but you have to book samui with the airline that flies to bangkok. So, for example you have to book with KLM to Samui. The companies coordinate with each other. At bangkok airport you will be guided to the samui flight with bangkok airways via a special route. You are not allowed to do the booking yourself and then just do transit in bangkok. According to Bangkok Airways

Important: TAT update 26/09/2021!
Q: Can I travel to Phuket on an indirect international flight, transiting via a domestic flight at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport?
A: Yes, transit through Bangkok is possible. Please check availability with your respective airlines.
Travelers on transit/transfer flights from Bangkok are subject to health and Immigration procedures at the first point of entry into Thailand, and undergo steps as required at Phuket International Airport.

Dear Pear,
The above is incorrect, if you book the Amsterdam-Samui-Amsterdam route directly via KLM (transfer in Bangkok in special transfer zone, label your suitcases) you will participate in the so-called Samui Sealed Route and you will therefore not have to be quarantined in BKK. You do not enter Bangkok but stay in the airport.
Booking single tickets Ams-Bkk and then Bkk-Samui is not allowed for this route.
