Dear readers,

I would like to buy a second hand moped for my girlfriend in Kaset Wisai. Where can I find second-hand sites that refer to a moped purchase?

I would prefer to search around the place Roi et. Does anyone have experience with such sites? And what are the prices for a second-hand moped?

Thank you in advance.

Greetings,

Gustavus

    Dear Gustav,

You can simply buy a second-hand moped from a dealer or a store in Used mopeds……. in any place, not on the internet in Thailand.
    Just go to a shop

    You can check out bathsold.com.
However, you can buy a new honda for about 40k.

    Dear Gustav,

It is better not to buy a second-hand moped (scooter) compared to a new one
they are much too expensive, often the mileage is not correct, often not used sparingly, etc
You can find a new one in Thailand for about 35000 bath, which is about 875 euros with warranty, etc.
don't be persuaded to pay in installments (the interest is extremely high)., pay cash and
get some discount with that, good luck

Also my idea, buy new, recently bought 2 new ones for 21,900 Bath each, Manufacturing in Thailand, 125cc 4-stroke, 2-year warranty, excellent service, super driving!
    2nd hand in Thailand !!!!

A new motorcycle in Thailand for 21900 bath????
Not from a Chinese or Taiwanese manufacturer , and assembled in Thailand , that might be possible .
I don't know any mopeds from 100 cc to 135 cc from well-known Japanese quality manufacturers such as Honda - Yamaha - Suzuki - Kawasaki, made in Thailand around 125 cc at such a low price.
For a simple Honda Wave you will soon be around 40000 bath.
      And by the way , these brands give a 3 - year warranty , and not a 2 - year warranty .
Story seems to go in my opinion, towards Keeway - Lefan - Platinum or something like that.
It is better to buy a second-hand Honda or Yamaha.
Looking forward to your response, name of the moped manufacturer and type or model.

Indeed, never buy a second-hand one, because they are not trustworthy and are much too expensive.
I also bought a second-hand one, and after a week with problems, I bought a new one.
And the difference with a new one is not that big.

    Hi Alex,
Best to stick to the previous answers. I can add the following. The dealer or seller lets you prepare the papers, which is standard, but do ask for it. Second, insurance. This is included when obtaining the Green Book for a scooter (you can forget about mopeds, everything here usually rides on a scooter with an automatic gearbox). Ask your seller for it. That insurance is not in your name but on the scooter so that everyone who rides it is insured! And ALWAYS keep the Green Book with the scooter. There is no stealing here because you don't live in the West.
You can buy a 125 cc or a 110 cc and if you want to ride it in pairs, get a 125 cc. If you don't have a 'BIKE' driver's license, make sure you have an International Driver's License that is accepted by the police as you may want to drive one yourself. I would strongly advise you to put the scooter in your name because in the event of a divorce (may I be cheeky and say that this happens in 99% of the cases!) you will otherwise lose the scooter. You must be eligible for this and that depends on your visa and you need the lease contract of your accommodation or be the owner of the property to get a residence certificate. And finally, a Honda is always a good buy because everyone will eventually buy it from you.
    regards,

Watch out when buying a second hand moped. These are often stolen. Often an excuse that the papers will come later. So also my advice… buy a new one.

Hello Alex, buy new because I also have bad experience with second-hand (at a dealer) if you buy a new one, there is usually an insurance for one year, ask about it!

Dear Alex, I live in Pattaya and have a Yamaha moped for sale for 12000 baht, it has just been inspected, so it is insured and the green booklet is included. The moped is 6 years old but drives well.
It has 33000 km on the clock.
I am selling it because I bought a honda PCX.
If you are interested, call 0991596806.

    Sincerely,

Yes, the best thing is to buy a second hand one for 20000-25000 baht, a new moped is usually completely beat up after a year, they usually don't drive it alone (3-4 people on the moped) if a Thai sees a curb, he has to get rid of it against. drive often, brother also has to borrow the moped (read tearing up) etcetc.
If you take a look at a Honda Wave, they are reasonably durable and you don't buy a moped with large exhausts and drilled carburetors ??? Kaset Wisai is just a small town where the local dealers will have a good reputation and will not sell stolen stuff. Would try here first.. Online you often don't know what you're buying??

I bought a Honda PCX 3 years ago from the rental company I rented it from before, it has been neatly maintained and has all been serviced on my name and also insured
    no problems with anything

You can buy second-hand mopeds anywhere in Thailand.
You really don't have to do a lot of work to find a moped business.
But believe me , BUY A NEW .
Know what you are getting into , this is worse than the used car market .

Can someone also explain to me why 2nd hand cars and mopeds in Thailand are so crazy expensive because of the new price?

    • janbeute says up

      Dear Teun.
The second - hand dealers think they 're selling gold .
All they do is clean the car inside and out and under the hood.
That it looks even better as a new one , at the official dealer .
I often see boxes at those sales, all seats and complete parts of the interior are removed.
And just polish to make them shine from all sides.
      Batteries are regularly charged.
The clutch and brake fluid is only changed in the jar or reservoir.
And then they are shining again for the next victim , sometimes even hurts your eyes .
      But technically not much happens.
If you have a problem with the car or moped later after purchase, you will also have a problem with the seller.
      So better not start.
What you could do is, as an example, take a look at the Toyota and Chevrolet dealers organization.
They have had a second - hand car warranty system for several years , at Toyota the name is SURE .

      Jan Beute.

      • support says up

        Dear Jan,

Do not worry about me. Just bought a new Toyota. But your explanation does not fully explain the high second-hand prices. That should be a question of supply and demand. And that can't be eliminated by a lot of brushing. An average Thai doesn't fall for that, does it? And since the supply is very large in my opinion on the 2nd hand market (thanks to the previous government with its election promises), prices should fall. However?

And since banks only finance new cars, this should also lead to a fall in the price of the second-hand market.

In short: still no real explanation, but the conclusion must be better new than 2nd hand.
