Reader question: Superrich Thailand also in Phuket?
Dear readers,
We will soon be flying to Phuket, and now I have read that there is a bank called Superrich in Bangkok, and my question is, is that same bank also located in Phuket (airport)? It seems to have a favorable exchange rate!
Regards,
Elly
Superrich is located just outside the airport of Phuket at the address: 52 Thanon Chao Fa, Tambon Talat Nuae, according to my information and close to the Halal restaurant
https://www.superrichthailand.com/#!/en/contact#branch
Phuket is not listed !
The name Super Rich often causes confusion, because there are 3 different companies with that name:
Super Rich Thailand (https://www.superrichthailand.com/)
Super Rich 1965 (http://www.superrich1965.com/)
Grand Super Rich (http://www.grandsuperrich.com/)
The one in Phuket (airport) I think is 'Super Rich Thailand'.
Superrich is located near Phuket Airport at the address: 52 Thanon Chao Fa. As I recall, it's just north of the airport exit and near the Halal restaurant.
Success.
Superrich is not a bank but a bureau de change. No, not in Phuket, but many others with a similar course. Exchange rates are usually unfavorable at a bank. Just look around for the signs at the exchange offices. Differences are not that big and only important if you were planning many thousands of euros
to exchange.
yes, Elly ff Googling and then you have it like this.
And it is not actually a bank but a bureau de change.
Best regards.
At Phuket airport
Yes, is also at Phuket airport.
Even in Nongkhai city center, thanon Meechai near the Wat Sisaket, there is a Super Rich exchange office. The banks no longer have foreign currency there.
There are actually 3 branches each called Superrich+something, orange, blue and white+green. In BKK they are right next to each other with their main offices. W + G seems to give the oldest / best rates, always dying pressure, especially with Thai people who want to buy foreign money for profit!
Only the orange has now also expanded considerably and now has very small change windows in many busy places, for example also ChMai and Pattaya and various BTS stations. These give somewhat lesser rates than the main thing, but for € still better than most banks.
The difference is not so big that you can pay for a taxi ride to get there - it saves from 1 (small) to 1,5 bt / € compared to city banks. However, at Swampy and DMK airport all banks give the same much lesser rate (HKT I don't know, probably), so it saves about 2-2,5 bt/€.
They are especially big on exchanging CNY (Shinian yen) and other ASEAN currencies because of the bad mutual banking there. When I went to China myself, it turned out to be cheaper to change from € to CNY via THB at SR than at the controlled state banks in China itself!
At Phuket airport there is a Superrich. This is located in the 'old terminal'. So in the 'domistic' flights terminal. I forgot what color Surperrich it is. You can go there for relatively small amounts. Really large amounts are not possible, they have a limited amount in stock.
The Superrich bureau de change located at 52 Thanon Chao Fa is very hard to find. The street on the edge of the center itself is not a problem, but it is a very long street with almost no house numbers indicated. I went looking for a taxi. After driving around for 1 hour and stopping several times to ask for a house number, I gave up. It was downright hilarious when I stopped at a 7 eleven shop and nobody could tell me (in Thai) what the house number of that shop was, so that I could orient myself. Best to keep their phone number +66 76 246 288 at hand, if you go by taxi 🙂
In Centrall festival, a large stopping mall, you have 1 floor with almost only benches. In the middle between all the major bank branches is a very small glass box. They give the best price, mind you. They only accept perfect banknotes, they are willing to accept folded corners, but a minimal tear that has been repaired or not is not accepted. According to my wife, this is the case with all banks.
What I have also heard is that larger denominations, so notes of 100 or 500 euros, give a better rate.
