Reader question: Flying to Siem Raep and a visa

Dear readers,

We plan to fly to Siem Reap in +/- 12 days, but do not yet have clear information about obtaining visas directly at the airport itself, so without e-visa at hand.

I've read a lot about it but keep finding conflicting information, when I go Googling all I get are lures of e-visa service sites asking for hundreds of dollars.

My question is whether or not it is possible to fly without a visa and get it at the airport itself? If so, what are the costs, the supplies, how long will it take to queue and possibly any other relevant information that we can use?

Of course we still have long valid Dutch passports.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Fahad

With a Dutch passport, I think you can get a visa on arrival, just like at the airport of Phnom Penh.
Take a pen with you, you will receive the necessary form on the plane. Take a minimum of USD 30 per person with you, which will save you standing in line at the exchange office.
How long the queue for the visa is depends on the number of planes that have just landed, the number of passengers on the planes, and whether you are a bit smooth out of your own plane. Try to get a seat in the front. Don't forget to bring two passport photos each.

  2. are you EU? says up

ALWAYS report your passport/nationality for questions like this - at least to be on the safe side. So you must be at least from the EU?
Frankly, I don't understand where these "contradictory" stories come from, because it's dead simple: you can choose what you like - choose on the spot then you join the queue for it - take cash US $ and at least 1 passport photo (so an old-fashioned) and it's - once it's your turn - arranged in a few minutes. Only; good reading; WHEN it's your turn - that can sometimes take a while if you've landed just after 3-4 crates full of stupid Chinese/Koreans.
Americans and Australians in particular - who often dominate travel forums - can make a huge fuss about having to wait 10-15 minutes - that messes up their entire daily schedule.
By the way: THIS is also another question that a travel agency knows about: they have the TiMATIC_which contains all those rules-also broken down by nationality. And there's still wiki-travel+google as your best friend.

I don't know how things are now, but I would be very surprised if anything would have changed. In 2014 we entered Cambodia from Hanoi without a visa in Siem Reap. At the airport we queued +/- 30' to get our visa on the spot, costs then: 20$/visa.

can only tell you buy visa on arrival in siem called at airport. smoothly. bring a photo, although I remember that otherwise you pay a small amount extra.
I can't tell you much about waiting times etc, but they are of course highly dependent on the time of arrival. You could get some idea about that if you check on the website of Siem Roel Airport which other arrivals are around that time. At least assume that they can be found there.. Of course you go for Angkor Wat, but you should certainly not forget to spend some time in the bar street there, just very nice! Have fun.

I've flown to Pnhom Phen More often, and think it's the same there.
Upon arrival at the airport you can buy a visa, I think something like 30 US dollars.
Make sure you have a passport photo with you, without it you can also pay a little more. When you return to Thailand, you will receive a one-month visa.
Wish you a very happy holiday. For Angkorwhat you need more than a day if you want to see it all. There you can buy a ticket for 3 days is cheaper

Hi Fahad, hundreds of dollars??? I'm sorry you questioned that. Cambodia's official eVisa service will get you an eVisa for $36 (2017). No hassle, no stress and delivered quickly to your mailbox. You can also choose to follow the crowd at the airport who would like to save $6 and then you can join the queue for a visa on arrival for $30. At the counters where you can go directly to with an eVisa when I was there, there were only a handful of people, so you'll get your turn quickly. And whether that is faster than queuing for the visa on arrival, of course depends on the occupancy rate of the aircraft.

From my own experience I know that you also have to wait an hour with that so-called official Visa service copy. Wasted money. Just pay $ 30 pp and provide a passport photo. Plus, of course, fill in a form on the spot.

  8. petervz says up

You can buy a tourist visa for 30 days at the airport for US$ 30.
Make sure you have a passport photo. You will receive forms during the flight. Have fun

As I remember you can buy the visa at the airport upon arrival. Costs something, I think about 50 euros. People… depends on the moment of course.

Stand in line on arrival and pay with dollars, I believe it is 35 pp and then move on to the next counter where the delivery takes place.
    Visa on arrival. https://www.backpackeninazie.nl/backpacken-cambodja/informatie-cambodja/visum-cambodja/
    wish you a nice trip.

    Dear Fahad,
That's no problem. Provide 2 passport photos but you only need one. Make sure you are one of the first off the plane with your completed paperwork in hand. It is usually a stampede, but if you are one of the first to report to the visa counter with $ 30, you will be done within 10 minutes! Otherwise you will stand in line and that can take up to 2 hours. I've done it a dozen times.
Now I'm going to cycle across the border at Nrd of Siem Reap and then I'll only lose 5 minutes for my visa.

Just go to the official website and apply for E visa for also 30 US dollar very easy and you will be through immigration immediately.
If you still want to get a visa on site, you can do that too, but bring 30 us dollars per person and don't forget the photo!

Did it with my wife at the airport last December.
Went fine; fill in the form, 1 passport photo and hand it in at the customs counter.
Didn't have to wait long. Pay appropriately in US dollars.
By the way, in Siem Riep you can pay almost everything in dollars.
