Dear readers,

A. We fly from AMS to Thailand with Swiss Airways at the end of December and have a stopover in Zurich (Switzerland) – flight LX737.
B. Return from BKK with Austrian Airways and a stopover in Vienna (Austria) – flight OS26.

From what I read, we arrive in Vienna at terminal 3 and the departure is also at terminal 3 (I assume another floor)

My question is if anyone is familiar with this route and has any advice for a hassle-free transfer for both stops (both A and B):

  1. What is the approximate average transfer time for this route (30 min – 45 min – 60 min or more).
  2. How is the transfer (I was told that at A you take a shuttle train to the E gates to another terminal?
  3. Tips to keep in mind.

Or do I not have to worry and are both stops easy to manage? Do you have experience with this route, would you like to share it with me?

Thanks for all available information.

Regards,

Michelle

I have traveled both routes. No problem. everything runs very smoothly. That shuttle only takes 3 minutes. So it also runs about every 5 minutes. I had plenty of time at both airports to look around. I like to stretch my legs in between. And no, not another floor, another wing.

    good evening,

about zurich and intercontinental flights (I do it regularly from Italy but that makes no difference as the flights from europe (also amsterdam) all almost always arrive at the central (old part of the airport):
-from Europe arrivals at gates AB/D which are all attached to the main building (a bit like Schiphol) - from the arrival gate simply follow transit signs and terminal E indications
in the central part of the main building you will be guided to level -2 where you can board the sky metro (a direct shuttle between the main building and terminal E without other stops or the like.

This sky metro arrives in terminal E at level -1, then simply follow the flow and indications, whereby you go through the security check one floor higher and the gates for boarding are one level higher.

all doable in half an hour, I would say just go that way after getting out

Good luck and have fun in the land of smiles,
    Erik

Vienna-Austrian airlines flights all arrive and depart from terminal 3 so it's easy to transfer, arriving from Thailand and departing on the same terminal.

PLEASE NOTE: At the airport in VIENNA it is mandatory to wear an FFP2 MASK (so not an ordinary surgical mask but one like a duckbill shape (say) with a quarter turn.

    Good trip,
    Erik

    Hello Michelle,
Last Saturday I left Amsterdam with LX-725 to Zurich, arrival 11:20. Got both boarding passes in Amsterdam. Departure to Bangkok at 13:10 with LX-180, so transfer time is 50 minutes, at least that was the intention. Departed from Amsterdam a bit late and also the flight to Bandkok a little later, but the transfer time was sufficient. First a short walk, then about 3 minutes by train to the other terminal and another short walk to the end of the terminal. At the gate it is a bit chaotic looking for the right place for another check and a stamp on the boarding pass. Otherwise a good flight. I can't tell you anything about the way back because I'll be here for a while. Have fun in Thailand!
    Greetings from Chiang Rai,
    Nico
