Dear readers,

What is the added value of registering a NL marriage (NL-TH) in Thailand? We will be moving to Thailand soon. I can't find much about this.

Regards,

Hans

You don't have eternal life and then registration can be useful. Property acquired during your marriage is communal.

That's not the question, Eric. (The marriage is registered in NL on a prenuptial agreement)
Whether or not to get married is not the question. (so please don't argue about that)
Once more. Does it have advantages (or disadvantages) if you also register this in Thailand if you live there?
For NL, the advantages and disadvantages are clear in terms of pension AOW etc.
Thailand: For example, you don't have to be married to get the yellow book.

I also registered the exact same situation and marriage later in Th. The prenuptial agreements also remain valid, but the question is how useful that is in Th because marriage law is different there depending on when you got married in NL.

If you take a Married visa you need (at least in Chiang Mai) proof that your marriage is registered on the amphor. You will not get a visa without this form.

And you can save a NON-IMM visa application
You make some trips across the border and 400000 Bht less on your account.
    So handy anyway.
