Dear readers,

From 8 to 12 August 2014, we would love to sail around the east side of Thailand (Koh Samui) with 10 people in a (small) boat, on which you can eat and sleep, view / visit islands and snorkel. We are 4 adults and 6 young people aged 14 – 17. However, we can't find anything that is somewhat affordable for us.

In Turkey, sailing around with a boat along the coastline is a fairly common thing I have heard. Can someone enlighten us on this one?

I am very curious about your reaction(s)

Yours faithfully,

Diana

For that you need crewed yacht charter, e.g. this

    Hi Diana,
I have been living on Samui for 6 years and it is quite possible to have something like this organized.
It only depends on your budget, what is a reasonable price for you. Don't forget that you are looking for a boat that can sleep 10 people + crew. I can sort this all out for you.

A boat-JE for 10 people with options for dinner, lounge, sleeping facilities doesn't seem like a boat-JE to me, but a BOAT! Your reference to Turkey does not go beyond the T of Thailand. In Turkey, confiscated Iritrean boat refugee boats are used for these occasions, which is why one can shoot below the OAD boat refugee prices. Nevertheless, there are also providers in Thailand who can and want to serve you with paddle and boat. Company "De Galei" offers you sporting opportunities to explore the coastlines of Thailand while paddling. For your safety, the presence of a professional sounder is ensured. This in connection with the unfathomable depths in the Bangkokian klongs; being the shortest route from Suvanabhumi airport to Koh Samui. Given your travel period, ponchos and other water-relieving agents, such as incontinence diapers, will also be provided. An underwater program has also been thought of. All "longtails" are in fact equipped with above water aquariums, with locally canned local underwater nymphs.

All I know is that on Koh Samui you had a tourist boat that left in the morning and returned to the island in the evening. During this day trip you went to visit an island, snorkel and go to another island for lunch. Then take a kayak around a small island. Was fun. Did this excursion with a speedboat yourself. The speed boat also fits 10 people. We were then 4 people. With the speedboat, the guide was included. But this was just booked at the hotel at the time. Maybe that's an idea.

The wishes you have are so specific that I can say no, that will not happen. Snorkeling=Yes, Eating On Board = Yes, But Sleeping On Board = NO. Perhaps a wealthy boat owner in the Yacht harbor of eg Pattya or Hua Hin would like to take you for a week?. I strongly assume that this is not what you are looking for?. So . . it will be again. . Turkey !!
