Home » Reader question » Reader question: Who can take mail from the Netherlands to Thailand?
Dear readers,
More than 2 weeks ago, mail was sent to me from NL to Thailand with Post.NL. The mail contains an A4 birth certificate and 1 A4 civil status statement of my grandson who wants to get married in Thailand. The mail has still not arrived.
In the Netherlands I have already arranged a 2nd set and my question is whether someone is flying from the Netherlands to Thailand soon and who could take the mail for me?
Quick response. [email protected]
Regards,
Jay

Jacob, first of all congratulations on the proposed marriage of your grandson!
Two weeks is not abnormal at the moment as you can read elsewhere in this blog. Sorry, I can't help you at the moment.
Hello, I can't take it with me because I'm not going yet, but I want to give you a tip before you give it.
To get married, these forms must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and at the Thai Embassy in The Hague.
Will be there within now and 2 weeks; takes longer due to corona
By regular mail it currently takes 8 weeks before I receive it in Thailand. If someone takes it for you, it will also take 3 weeks before you have it due to quarantine. Why don't you send it with DHL? Of course costs something like 30 euros but you have it within a week.
Received mail from the Netherlands today. Has been on the road for 25 days, very normal at the moment with Covid.
5 to 6 weeks on the road via the Post, happened to me a few times now
Had the same problem sent mail for invitation 5 weeks on the road wanted to get new forms today town hall. Was just called mail arrived, and why it took so long post office she against my girlfriend ost is also quarantined for two weeks just like people unbelievable so take into account two weeks extra waiting time so takes like me almost five weeks total registered mail nl.
How quickly a registered letter is delivered, provided the delivery address is in Thai characters, mainly depends on the time the shipment is 'on its way' from the Netherlands to Thailand. This may be due to Thai customs and/or the physical transport from AMS to BKK.
Even with track & trace it is not possible to see whether the shipment has arrived at Thai customs. Only after customs has released the shipment and it has been scanned by Thailand Post can regular progress be seen in the delivery.
In July 2019, November last year and May 17, I sent registered letters with documents. In 2019, the letter arrived after 6 days, the letter from November after 14 days and the letter of May 17 will probably arrive on June 11. The first letter was 'on its way' from the Netherlands to Thailand for 2 days, the second 9 days and the third (probably) 19 days.
Small correction:
The third letter was 'on the way' from NL to TH for 19 days and 2 hours.
Dear, on May 7th I sent an A4 envelope with documents to Roi Et by registered mail via BPost Belgium. Arrived yesterday June 8th. Best regards Roger
8 days ago an envelope with stuff
registered to the Netherlands sent via
Thai Post Office. 200 baht. In 7 days
Delivered. Particularly fast
If you have a Track and Trace number, check on the Thailandpost website where the package is. I just received a package from the Netherlands and the package was on the road for 3 weeks.
In my experience, the delay in mail delivery eg Thailand-Netherlands is not always due to Thailand Post.
The annoying thing is that PostNL provides registered mail with a different R number when it arrives from abroad and it is almost impossible to find out what that new number may be.
Incidentally, I have heard whispers that a lot of mail is not handled by airmail but by seamail, and that explains the 20+ days in my opinion.
