Reader question: What is the selling price of a cow in Thailand?
Dear readers,
To pay for my wife's surgery, my family has proposed to sell my cows. It concerns mother cow (7 years old) and daughter (1 year old).
Does anyone have an idea what the retail price should be? They told me that the price is not great at the moment. They think 40.000 baht.
Environment Roi Et.
Regards,
Piet

Maximum, rather 30.000
pete,
It is, of course, highly dependent on the breed and condition of the cow and calf.
But for 40.000 thb I would sell them immediately.
The prices here are between 30 – 40.000 thb for beef cows crossing net charolais
the native race usually a much smaller species around 8 to 10.000 thb.
Which I suspect it will be a Thai race and so I would immediately take that 40.000 thb.
Hi Pete,
Buying cows without seeing is difficult and no don all over the world.
If you manage to provide a few photos of those animals, it would be a bit easier to give a target price.
To me, 40000 seems a bit low for the described animals and my brothers-in-law (Thai with a lot of cows) share the same opinion.
success
Hello Piet,
Personally, I wouldn't sell those cows. The price is now low. It is about 1100 Euro. I think you better transfer 1100 Euro. You can always sell the cows.
Get well soon for your wife.
Instead of selling the cows you could consult this and that one in the hospital because usually the Thai is helped through the government. If the operation cannot be performed in the hospital in Roi Et, people will be referred to the larger hospitals in Khon Kaen, including the large university hospital. I know Roi Et hospital and know several cases of referrals, I think it is best that they should arrange this in consultation with the doctor. Even for my dentist in the hospital in Roi Et, for example, I have a referral to Khon Kaen for a bridge if I need it, while they have a large dental department in Roi Et. I think that the regional hospital does not have all the facilities, so ask for a referral and do not pay yourself or go directly to Khon Kaen and try to arrange it directly there, I also know people who go to another province themselves (for example from Nong Khai to Udon, from Phetchaburi to Bangkok, etc) have gone to do the treatment elsewhere, it is possible.
Dear,
I asked the same question a while ago and indeed 40.000bath appears to be the price. Although near Korat people tend more towards 30.000.
Dear Pete,
The buyer thinks in kilos of meat. Live weight. The butcher assumes the expected kilos cleaned after slaughter. A buyer will probably slaughter the cow and resell the calf.
Good luck, Regards Anthony
