I want to apply for a new tourist visa for Thailand in Cambodia in April. Are there different options in Cambodia? Sim Reap? Or are you obliged to travel to Phnom Penh. I am from Surin.

The embassy is in Phnom Penh, but you can also get a visa from Siem Reap through a visa office. Passport will then be sent to PP, so it will take a bit longer.
Recommend using a visa office as the Thai embassy in PP is not the easiest . A good address is LMN travel on the Riverside in PP, near Street #144. Only charge 10/15 Dollar extra but take care of the whole journey. Absolutely worth the money . Takes 3/4 days so make sure you plan enough time.
Dear Geert,
You can get a tourist visa for free at Suvarnabhum airport and it is valid for 30 days. You can extend it once at the immigration for Th Bth 1900, – And then you have to leave the country, haha.
Since January 1, you can also stay for 30 days at border crossing, back into Thailand. I cycled across the border north of Along Veng last week and it was fixed within 1,5 minutes. But from Surin it is best to take the Chong Chom border.

You don't get a visa at the airport, Geert.
I was personally at the Thai embassy in Phnom Phen, applied for a tourist visa, filled in the form, but I was asked to submit my hotel bookings for the 3rd month, which I could not do because I said I was traveling around, so I received no visas. So probably better through the office.
