Dear readers,

Until a few years ago I had a virtual fixed telephone number in the Netherlands that I used to call the Netherlands and more specifically to receive calls from the Netherlands (for example from my pension fund). That Dutch number was then forwarded via VoIP to my computer in Laos and from there forwarded to my mobile number there. This way I was easily and accessible for the Netherlands. I then paid € 10 per year.

Now looking for a similar situation again (old option has been removed) and then end up with forwarding companies that charge a monthly amount and additionally costs per minute. So I'm not looking for anything like that. That is for the business market

I seem to remember that it was published on the blog in the past. I remember that you paid around € 8 annually for it and people were very pleased with it.

Now my question.. who helps me on the road has good tips and / or user experiences?

I appreciate your responses. And my thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jan

It is possible to have a virtual number via Skype in any country for a low monthly/yearly fee.
You will have to install skype on your smartphone to have the same facility as you describe.

Maybe Voip Discount is something for you?

    Hi Jan,

This is possible with a skype number. You must then provide an NL number (e.g. family). The costs for forwarding to a Thai/Laos number are a few cents per minute.

    That possibility still exists.

Via CheapConnect you can take a Dutch number for € 8,75 per year. Then you can choose an ordinary fixed NL number. This is a so-called SIP number. Just to be on the safe side, assume that you have to provide a NL address of the city whose area code you want (you will never receive physical mail from them at that address, by the way).
If you want, you get two free SIP numbers and can then create a so-called trunk. With such a trunk you can have your mobile ring when you receive a call on your NL number.

Don't ask me what and how such a trunk should be set up, because I'm not trained enough for that. Please let me know fools proof if you succeeded and how.

Here is the referral link with which you can create your account at CheapConnect: https://account.cheapconnect.net/referral.php?ref=25716
Just forget that you have to renew this subscription yourself in time every year in order not to lose the number. I'd say it's a matter of planning well in time.

I only use this number on a Gigaset IP telephone (connected to my router at home) to receive calls and to call (free) 0800 or (paid) 0900 numbers. In this Gigaset I can also lose the account with my VoIP provider (see the next paragraph).

I call out via a VoIP provider, the Gigaset or their app on my mobile phone. In my case Freevoipdeal, (www.freevoipdeal.com) with which, after purchasing a call credit of € 10, I can call fixed numbers in many countries for free for four months, including the Netherlands. For example, it is not a problem if the SVB puts you on hold for a long time.
I use the credit myself to call mobile numbers, at 1,8 cents per minute.

You can choose from many VoIP providers. Take one with many so-called “free days” and/or cheap calls to your preferred country. The latter is different for every provider.
Please note that when registering here you immediately enter your correct address outside the EU, otherwise you will pay VAT every time on purchased call credit.

You can use your visa card to take out a credit on skype. If I call my mother via Skype, it will cost me something like 2 euro cents per minute. half an hour of calling costs 0,6 euros. Very cheap. To mobile is slightly more expensive, but still cheap. If my credit drops below 5 euros, they automatically take 10 euros from my visa. Can I call again 2 years.

Dupline is an app that you can put on your phone. Costs 2 euros per month. You can choose a NL number from a list. That is all you have to pay to be reachable via an app with a NL number. Advantage saat on your phone when you receive a call you can always be reached and do not have to call back.

    Hi Jan,

I've put it to the test. Yes it works, after an hour of figuring out and setting it up.

Just created a free account at CheapConnect via their website. From that account you can buy a NL landline number for 1 year for 8,95 euros and pay with Ideal. For example, I requested and bought a 079 Zoetermeers number. You will then receive an email with that NL number starting with 31.. and password.

Please note: you use this number and password to log in to your mobile phone with a so-called “softphone” app. So not the first cheapconnect account, this one is only for purchasing calling credit and viewing your invoices.

You don't need any calling credit to only be called. You can buy call credit from 5 euros. Calling to NL fixed / mobile costs 2,4 / 5 cents. Suppose you are in NL and you want to call a Thai landline or mobile number, this will cost 5 cents of your call credit.

I have installed the softphone app Calls [https://appgrooves.com/android/vn.calls.sip/calls-sip-voip-softphone/ruddy-nguyen] on my Android mobile. This one was easy to set up: just username and password. At the username you have to complete your 31… number with “@sip.cheapconnect.net”.

This way I can be reached anywhere with my fixed NL number as long as I have internet and it does not cost me any credit when I receive a call [unlike a NL mobile number].

    Dear Eddie,

    First of all my thanks!

    What have I done

Opened an account at cheapconnect and purchased a number in Den Bosch

    Installed the Calls app

    Activated within Calls

    login +31733690…@sip.cheapconnect.net.
Password generated by myself, but used the same as with cheapconnect.

Then try to call via Voipdiscount and that's where it goes wrong. Totally no response

    What am I doing wrong???.

Eddy, you can email me privately at ; [email protected] or even better whatsapp on +8562022629099.

    Thank you in advance.
    Please have the app working

    Regards,

      Hi Jan,

I can't reach you via your whatsapp number. Hence this message:

      1) First of all, you have been given “Registered” status in the Calls softphone app. This means that you are correctly logged in to Cheapconnect in order to make or receive calls

      2) If you log in to the website portal of Cheapconnect, you can use this link [ https://account.cheapconnect.net/sip.php?page=cli ] check if you can be called. Enter your newly created NL landline number without 31 and preceded by a 0, and press Start. You see/hear on your mobile that CheapConnect is trying to call you. You cannot have a conversation.

      3) If the above steps have been completed correctly, try calling me on my Cheapconnect number 0793690575.

      Good luck, Eddie

I'm also with cheapconnect, I really like it.
Why not opt for a 085 number?
This is not bound by city or region.
I myself use this in combination with a desk VoIP telephone that is also easy to transfer.

I also have CheapConnect myself. Have programmed this in my FritzBox 7360 router that I have in Bangkok. The analog telephone that I have connected to this now simply has a Dutch number, and behaves completely as if it were in the Netherlands.

Calling to Dutch numbers costs me a few cents per minute from the CheapConnect prepaid credit. Receiving calls is free for most of my Dutch friends or goes out of their bundle.

During the day the quality is sometimes mediocre, but I think that's because I connected my FritzBox 7360 router to my neighbor's internet via WiFi. So I don't have to take out an internet subscription myself. at night the quality is excellent and you don't notice that I'm in Thailand.
