Reader question: Top up TrueMove calling credit from Belgium
Dear readers,
I have had a prepaid SIM card from the Thai TrueMove for a long time. I could always upload these via the website of True. I could also extend the validity period for 2 THB per month.
Due to the current situation, I have not been to Thailand for more than a year now. The phone still works (I can request the call credit and validity date from Belgium with #123#). However, the validity date will end within a few months, and calling credit will be used up.
The problem is now that I can no longer top up credit via the website. I keep getting the message that I have to enter a valid phone number.
Does anyone know how this problem can be solved?
Regards,
Tony

Hi Tony,
If you still have calling credit on your TrueMove prepaid number, you can extend the validity of your SIM card (up to a maximum of 365 days) by calling the numbers below. This also works from the Netherlands - I just did this - after which you will receive an SMS (in Thai). After this you can request your new validity date and call credit by calling another number.
Another possibility to extend the validity of your Truemove SIM card is to top up your calling credit. I do this through internet banking via my Thai bank account (Pay My Bills option in KTB netbank), although I suspect that this can also be done in other ways.

Good luck,

I don't have true but AIS, I have installed an app on my phone and can top up with my credit card via the app. Maybe True also has an app that can do this? Take a look in the app store/play store.
I have been using a website for this for years. Always works perfectly..
https://mobiletopup.com/
you can top up and what I usually use it for, especially now that I haven't been to Thailand for more than a year, to keep the validity of your number.. have only done it again for max 1 year.
success
Dear Bart, I also have AIS and I also have the App so that I can top up my balance via my credit card if necessary. As long as I have enough calling credit, I don't even have to deposit any money before extending my expiration date. My wife extends my due date via her smartphone. My calling credit was valid until April 19, 2021 and she has now extended it from Thailand to September 19, without depositing any money. I don't even know how she does that.
An open door perhaps….
I keep getting the message that I have to enter a valid phone number.
Do you have a Thai mobile number?
I have Thai mobile number.
I used to be able to “top-up” via the website with payment via my credit card.
With the phone I can then extend the validity period for 934 days with *90*90#. I have only renewed for another 3 months. But now my calling credit has been used up, so I can no longer extend it any further.
I hope to be able to travel back to Thailand next winter, but that will not be possible in time to top up calling credit in 7-eleven or the like on the spot
Hello Tony,
I have the following alternatives for you:
1) you can still top up with credit card using the truemove app or website. TIP: Weird that it works like this, but don't forget to select your current credit value on the screen, otherwise the Topup button is grayed out [do not press]
2) With any thai online bank account app you can top up for free
3) through this website https://www.recharge.com/en/thailand/true-move-top-up you can top up with a credit card for a small fee
Good luck, Eddie
I've been using the TrueMove App for a few years now. True service
Top up your 20Baht credit without any problems (easiest is to top up via Credit Card, you can just do it in the app itself) and add another month.
The credit is 20 Baht higher (indeed), they accumulate over the months (I now have 255 Baht), and once in Thailand I use it for Dataplan and possibly calling.
I myself can upgrade validity up to a year in advance. My girlfriend who once bought a tourist sim from True can always go ahead for a maximum of 3 months, so I have to do these actions more often.
By the way… if you do it via the True app (with credit card) there are no extra costs involved, and the minimum top-up is 20Baht. Via sites the minimum is sometimes higher (30 Baht) and you still only get 1 month longer. In addition, the sites often come with additional costs. I even saw 1 Euro charges in addition to the 20/30 baht.
In the meantime I was able to (partially) solve the problem. Using the chat function on True's website, I was able to have the number unblocked. Top-up via the website https://iservice.truecorp.co.th/prepaid-top-up however, gives a message after payment: "unknown error".
With the website that Michel suggested (https://mobiletopup.com/ ) is it working. 100 THB top up with 5 THB charges. Now I can extend further until we can go to Thailand again in a normal way 🙂
Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas.
Greetings,
Tony
Day. Don't you have a friend who lives here in Thailand? You deposit some money on his Belgian. or Dutch rack. Just go to the office here and refill. I have a few songs from friends here. Very simple.
